Macbeth in Our Society

This generation has made many problems for people of all ages and teenagers in

particular. Our government has become corrupt by popularity and a man with a blind ambition to

rule America. Teens want to believe what they see on social media and are shocked when it isn’t

what they thought. Lastly, is all the betrayal that people do and the relationships that are

destroyed and trust that is lost. Macbeths was driven crazy with blind ambition when he was told

his future by the witches. He also saw the king and all the power he held and was surprised at all

the problems he faced when he was actually king. Lastly Macbeth was the person betraying his

friend Banquo so he could be king and not have to worry about the secrets others knew.

Macbeth’s themes of blind ambition is seen in today’s society in politics, appearance vs. reality

as seen in social media in today’s society, and lastly betrayal as seen in relationships in today’s

society.

Blind ambition is seen in society when trump used his fame and wealth to ultimately

become president of the United States. Trump is a very smart man that knows how to get what he

wants by any means. “I’m the first to admit that I am very competitive and that I’ll so nearly

anything with in legal bounds to win. Sometimes part of making a deal is denigrating your

competition” (Trump Axion.com). Trump will not let anything get in his way of success and is

willing to do anything. Trump also explains how he was successful on becoming president. “You

can’t con people, at least not for long. You can create excitement, you can do wonderful

promotions and get all kinds of press, and you can throw in a little hyperbole. But if you don’t

deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on” (Trump Axions.com). Trump had blind

ambitions to become president was his competitive nature and his ability to manipulate people.

Appearance vs. reality is seen often in today’s society in social media and technology and

affects teens the most. For many teens when they see people on social media and become

envious and end up depressed because they cannot obtain what they see. “Social media has

created jealous behavior over illusions. Sadly some are envious of things, relationships, and

lifestyles that don’t exist” (MTLA Pinterest). Social media is just an illusion showing only what

they want you to see. Today social media is teaching young teens to want what others have and

not enjoying what they already have. “Social media is training us to compare our lives, instead of

appreciating everything we are. No wonder why everyone is always depressed” (Aylon

Pinterest). Our depressing may stem from social media because we want our lives to be like what

we see from others. Appearance vs. reality is social media is a huge problem for teens and is

making them depressed.

Betrayal in today’s society is often seen destroying families and relationships. In many

marriages both male and female cheat on their significant other extremely often and leads to

divorce. “The experts at Divorce Magazine note that about 45-50 percent of married women and

50-60 percent of married men cheat on their spouses” (Divorce Magazine). These high

percentages show how often people betray each other while in marriage. After the spouse

discovers the betrayal surprisingly some still decide to stay together. “However in reality,

Divorce Magazine notes that about 70 percent of couples actually stay together after an affair is

discovered” (Divorce Magazine). For many relationships this is probably an effort to keep their

family together for the children. Betrayal in relationships is very high in America and not many

are trustworthy anymore.

The themes in Macbeth are also seen in our society such as blind ambition in our white

house, appearance vs. reality in social media, and betrayal in relationships. In Macbeth he had

blind ambition such as Trump to become president and make changes to America. Also in

Macbeth his experience with appearance vs. reality of being king is much more stressful like

social media showing people a perfect life when in reality it isn’t that great. Lastly, in Macbeth

we see him betray his friends so he can be safe, such as people cheating on their spouse just to

commit adulatory. We can learn from Macbeth’s foolishness and become aware of how we may

be doing thig similar to him.
