Burner head aligned
Check gas pressures
Air: Regulator pressure - 350-525 kPa (50-75 psi)*
Acetylene: Regulator pressure - 80-95 kPa (12-14 psi)
Tank pressure - 600 kPa (85 psi)
Nitrous oxide: Regulator pressure - 350-525 kPa (50-75 psi)
Tank pressure - 3,500 kPa (500 psi)
Check drain
Tubing
Interlocks
Drain loop filled (if applicable)
Bottle level

Sample Introduction
Capillary tubing
Nebulizer
Spray chamber/impact device
Check lamp intensity
* Some instruments (e.g., the AAnalyst 700/800) require higher air pressures---refer
to the spectrometer hardware manual specific settings.
Daily Shutdown Maintenance
Spray chamber flushed
Burner head cleaned
Gases off
Gas lines bled (if applicable)
Periodic Maintenance
Clean burner head and nebulizer
Verify sensitivity/precision using 2 mg/L of copper standard solution
prepared by dilution from the 1,000 mg/L Copper Standard solution
(part # N930-0114, or N930-0183)
Clean instrument covers

Furnace
Daily Start-Up Maintenance
Check or replace graphite tube
Check level of water in rinse/waste bottles
Clean contact cylinders
Check quartz windows (clean if necessary)
Check A/S capillary tip (recut if necessary)
Check A/S alignment
Check lamp intensity
Check argon regulator pressure: 350-400 kPa (50-58 psi)
Check fume extractor separator trap water level and filter (if applicable)
Check recirculator water level (if applicable)

Periodic Maintenance
Replace contact cylinders
Replace or clean fume extractor nozzle/cavity/hoses/separator trap (if applicable)
Top up or change recirculator water (if applicable)
Verify characteristic mass using GFAAS Mixed Standard (part # N930-0244)
Clean instrument covers

FIAS
Daily Start-Up Maintenance
Quartz cell
Check/clean end windows
Check for moisture
Check alignment
Check/replace pump tubing
Check carrier/reductant flow rates
Check waste bottle liquid level
Check argon flow rate
Check argon regulator pressure: 350-400 kPa (50-58 psi)

Daily Shut Down Maintenance


Pump water through carrier/reductant lines for 1-3 minutes
Pump all lines dry
Relieve pressure on tube lines
