INSTRUCTIONS MANUAL

1.-INTRODUCTION.

During the functioning of any item of HV equipment, certain elements of the unit are live, others may be
subject to either continuous or occasional movement, and some components may reach relatively high
temperatures. As a consequence of these factors, use of the unit implies certain electrical, mechanical and/or
heat-related hazards.

With the intention of providing an adequate level of protection for both staff and plant equipment, the
development and construction of MESA products is guided by the principle of integral safety, based on the
SWITCH DISCONNECTOR following criteria:

- The elimination of hazards wherever possible.


TYPES :
S2D to 24kV - When this is not technically and/or economically viable, the fitting of adequate safety devices to the unit.

S3D to 38kV - The provision of information on possible risks for the purposes of establishing operating procedures
designed to avoid hazards, facilitate operating staff safety training programmes and promote the use of
proper protective clothing and similar equipment.
INTRUCTIONS MANUAL
Ensure therefore that only properly trained and/or supervised persons are allowed to work on or near the
equipment described in this manual (as stipulated by (EN 50110). All operating staff should be familiar with
the instructions and the safety precautions contained therein, along with any applicable general precautions

hygiene laws that may apply).

Please observe this point carefully, as the safe and correct functioning of this equipment depends not only on
its design, but also on general circumstances beyond the control and responsibility of the manufacturer - with
particular reference to:

- Observance of adequate transport and handling procedures between the factory and installation site.

2.- CHARACTERISTICS AND APPLICATIONS In addition to the apparatus base, a series of options are available as follows:

2.1.-Description.
Mechanical interlocking
The aerial remote-controlled of the switch-disconnector S2D and S3D is used in public distribution network,

The set is prepared to be fixed onto the M. T. line support. It may be operated locally by using a hook stick

The apparatus base is composed of the switch set plus electrical control mounted on a chassis. Overvoltage protection

Current measurement 2.1.1. Description of control unit (EASERGY T200P)

This function is realized by current sensors ensured in both switch sides, one homopolar and two phase If the control unit installed is the EASERGY T 200P, then, an small description of its elements is made. For
current sensors. The current sensors detect homopolar and phase default currents. more information you must consulte the control unit instruction manual.
The control unit elements are (figure 6):

The automatism is configurated to open the switch after one, two, three or four defaults. This default will be
take into account if it continues during 50 ms a minimum.

3.- HANDLING, TRANSPORT AND STORAGE IMPORTANT NOTE

3.1.- Delivery DO NOT USE THE CONNECTION-POINTS TO RAISE THE

The S2D & S3D switches may be delivered in seafreight or standard packaging, depending on the final
destination. (packaging specifications by consultation).
Carriage is the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise specified. For this reason, the supplier accepts
no liability whatsoever for any situation that may arise while the delivery is in transit. Please contact the
insurer or carrier directly in the event of any problem.

Packaging instructions must be followed during handling.


Items supplied for export are covered by the international INCOTERMS rules.

3.2.- Lifting and transporting the unit

Please follow the instructions indicated on the crates:


The apparatus must be lifted in the packaging to the nearest possible point to the post. (figure 9) 3.3.- Checking at the arrival
A forklift truck or crane hoist is sufficient for moving and handling the unit.
Important: Please carry out a check immediately after delivery to ensure that the items supplied match the items listed in
the delivery note and order documentation.
Avoid any impacts or sudden movements that may damage components.
Do not leave the packing cases in any inadequate location such as on an unstable surface. You are advised to carry out a visual check to ensure that the units have not suffered any damage in transit.
Do not slide the units down sloping floor areas or stairways. If you find any damaged items, please contact the insurer and make the corresponding claim.

Before carrying out this inspection, please unpack the unit following the instructions given in section 3.4.
Now inspect the delivery to ensure that each item is correctly identified, and check the following items:
- The details shown on the nameplate should match the order specifications.
- All accessories included in the order should be present.

In the event of any anomaly, please make out a report in collaboration with the carrier.The report should
indicate the order number and give details of the damage and how it was caused.

All damage reports and compensation claims MUST be submitted to MESA within the guarantee period to

3.4. Unpacking the unit. 3.5- Storage.

The unit should be unpacked with great care in order to avoid breakage or deformation of the conducting - The switch will be stored in its original packing.

CAUTION:
- The battery must not be stored for more than 3 months without being recharged.
- To help conserve the battery, do not use a car-type battery charger; use the EASERY T200 P unit
itself to recharge batteries.

4.- INSTALLATION

4.1.- General conditions

The minimum conditions corresponding to the point of installation should conform to HV rules contained in
ITC 15 (applicable in Spain) or to the rules applicable in the destination country.

4.2.- Fitting the unit

4.2.1. Work under voltage

In case of doing works with current, it is necessary that the transformer receives simultaneously currents
over its terminals to avoid induced currents. These currents would damage the transformer. We advise you to
do the installation of the voltage transformer without current.

4.2.2.-Surge arresters assembly. 4.2.3.1-Connectors unpacking.

Surge arresters are supplied disassembled and they will be assembled in the zone indicated in figure 13. for The connectors will not unpack at once. Unpack one by one just before mounting in order to avoid dirt and
their assemble t is necessary the bolts supplied in their correct places. (You must compulsorily use a deterioration by bumps or scratches
dynamometric tool. Closing torque is 30 N/m.)

CAUTION: 4.2.3.2-Handling.
Before fixing the support frame for the switch-disconnector to the post, the supports for the surge arresters
MUST be assembled. In order to avoid dirt in connectors during their manipulation, the disposable gloves supplied in assembly kit
must be used.

4.2.3.3-Connectors and bushing cleaning.

Before connector assemble on the bushing, it is necessary the cleaning of connector and bushing in the
indicated zones (figures 15 y 16)

4.2.3.3.1 Connector cleaning.

You must put on the gloves that the Kit provides. The paper have to be drenched with isopropilic alcohol.
The Kit supplies this liquid too. You must introduce the wet paper inside the connector. Spin it for cleaning
the zones signed (figure 15). If you do not reach only with paper, the Kit provides a wood tool.
CONTACT ZONES
CAUTION. You must pay more attention to cleaning. The semiconductor black gum remainders have to be
avoided in contact zones with connectors and bushings.

4.2.3.3.2 Bushing cleaning

You must clean the bushing in the zone indicated (figure 16) with the same wet paper.

4.2.3.4-Grease application. Put the nylon thread in the connector as it is indicated in figure 20. Then you must curl in clockwise pressing
with force until the top.
When cleaning is finished, spread a thin layer of grease (provided in the kit). 2/3 parts of tube will be
applicated on conical surface of bushing (figure 17) and 1/3 part in the indicated zone of connector (figure
18). Do not spread it in metal zones that it is indicated in figure 17.

4.2.3.6-Nylon thread extraction

Before fitting the frame to the structure, check that: Fixing support

1st. A thick cape of codl galvanized painting with a base of zinc chromium-plated (96% powder of support frame.

2nd. When it is dry, apply a neutral varnish valid for outdoor.

ATTENTION: Do not hole the swith-disconnector tank or the electrical command enclosure.

Notes:
For a different assembly, please ask for information to MESA.

Please, pay attention to the closing torques as per table 2

Make the fitting with all bolts tight. Otherwise this fitting will not be correct. Never use a hammer for the
introduction of bolts. If it is necessary, modify the holes. Fig.26
4.3.- Lifting, levelling and alignment.

Wherever possible, lift the frames directly from their delivery packaging to the point of final installation on
the structure.

4.3.1.- Switch.

Assembly:
Follow unpacking instructions, point 3.4

Lift the switch with the aid of a hoist (figure 11), introducing the cables through an elevation point. (figure
26)
Raise the swith-disconnector until it was at same height of horizontal support (figure 27)

CAUTION:
If apparatus has the surge arresters option, its support (mark 4. figure 26) have to be assembly in the fixing
support before its raise.

Move the switch-disconnector horizontally , in order that it is always below the fixing support according to 4.3.2. Voltage transformer raise.

With help of a crane, raise transformer support and fix it in the post. Then, raise the voltaje transformer with
the sashes supplied. Do not raise it from its terminals.

When the apparatus is placed, screw it over the support frame according to figure 30, with the cooresponding

As soon as its position is correct, place the fixing sections with the corresponding bolts and tighten switch-
disconnector fixing nuts with the corresponding closing torque. (figure 30)
4.3.3.- Surge arresters assembly.

In the case of the equipments supplied with surge arresters, they will be assembled after fixing the switch-

CAUTION:
Assemble the surge arresters supports on the switch-disconnector support frame before fix it on the post.

4.5.- Adjustment and final check 5.-TORQUE SETTINGS.

After installation - or servicing work of any type - carry out the following checks before connecting the Torque settings
power supply:

a) Installation should comply with all points indicated in the manual. TORQUE SETTINGS (kp.m)

c) Check all nuts and bolts for tightness (attachment to structure, transmission units, etc.)

d) Do not apply paint to any of the hinge points or articulations of the subassemblies, as this could cause
them to seize up partially and prevent operation.

e) Check the right operation of control and, in particular, verify its correct visual sign.

f) Operate switch to check for correct functioning.

Realize some manual operations (open-close), prove “O” open (figure 32) and “I” close (figure 33)
signs.

h) Stainless steel tank needs a general cleaning with no abrasive cloth drenched in domestic detergent for
stainless steel. In this way dust, moisture, grease and others pollutants are removed and it makes tank
recovers its original qualities.

6.-SETTING INTO SERVICE

Do not commence the setting into service of the unit without first carrying out all the checks listed in section
4.5 and ensuring that all the different systems involved are functioning perfectly.

1. Manual emergency operation


To open manually: Turn the cross anticlockwise from closed position.
To close manually: Turn the cross clockwise from opened position.

2. State of switch
Switch open: The position indicator below the control is “O”.
Switch closed: The position indicator below the control is “I”.

3. Operating safety
The mechanical interlock in closed position forbids any manual or electrical operation.(figure 37)

7.- MAINTENANCE

Ensure that all persons engaged to carry out installation are supplied with copies of the servicing guide
before starting work.
7.2.- Spares.
