Teaching Artifact Standards-Based Project Oriented Unit
Course ED 310A
Teaching Artifact Description Animation unit. Intro to Animation. Designed for 1st year Arts & Comm
students. The lesson explores the animation industry, introduces
animation principles, and allows students to create their own character
and short animation.
Teaching Artifact Results When students complete this unit they understand the principles of
animation and how to use software to apply them. Students are now able
to produce animations and are expected to include this skill set in future
projects. Students build an industry skill set and add to their digital
portfolio.
Part II: Connect the teaching artifact to sub-standard and assess our proficiency
Sub Standard 9.1 CANDIDATE TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR ALL STUDENTS’
LEARNING BY DEVELOPING PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
Connection to Artifact Lessons, instructions, assignments, and projects are developed using
research-based, standards-aligned curriculum enhanced with industry
practices and experience. Students are given hands-on experience and
develop skills that are directly related to the workplace.

Evidence of Self-Assessment Students leave the lesson understanding the animation industry, the
different careers, and how to get the jobs. They practice the principles of

Implementation of Findings I included the first article because I feel that I need to seek out relatable
professional development courses that will help me be a more organized
teacher. The second resource discusses project based learning and how
you give away control when implementing PBL, and some ideas on how to
manage PBL while still giving students freedom.
