Etiquette is a rules of acceptable personal behavior and courtesy or a code of
behavior that delineates expectations for social behavior according to contemporary conventional norms within a society, social , company or environment. So in this case, there are three etiquettes which must be considered. Firstly, Do not interrupt any personal meetings or when someone is busy with another given task. Instead, one should wait for the other party to be free for discussion. Getting to know your colleagues is a good thing but always be respectful of others’ space. In this case, Halim is in the wrong because he did not think to withold his information when he entered Ali’s office with the presence of Abu there and he also entered Ali’s office without making a prior appointment to discuss the matter. Second, when in the presence of other parties, personal company matters should be kept to one’s self. Any incrimianting details about the company should not be revealed in the presence of an unathorized party. Each company also has their own secrets. In the case of this scenario, Ali shouldn’t have exposed confidential information (the suprise visit to XYZ company) in regards to his company to unauthorized parties and those working outside the company. In addition to that, any possession belonging to a colleague should be steered cleared, be it a text, email, snail mail or any paper on the printer or desk. Lastly, one should be professional and keep the conversation limited in addition to avoiding workplace talk with friends, especially when outside the company. Also, sharing information about your personal life is a personal choice, but one should be cautious when it comes to what is shared because some colleagues may be more open than others and might choose to keep their personal life private. In the heat of the moment, incriminating details about a company may be revealed. For example in the age of social media, nothing is "private" anymore. Any complaints or rants made about one’s colleagues, superiors or work on Facebook or Twitter may be divulged or misinterpreted by varying parties. Even if the account is private, it can get back to the involved parties.
