Smoking

This is one of the leading cause of cancer, it doesn't only affect the smoker but also those who can
inhale the smoke it produces. Smoking can also cause permanent damage to the air sacs of the lungs
and it raises the blood pressure and heart rate.

Excess Salt and Sugar

Sugar can contribute to obesity which, in turn, can put us at an increased risk of high cholesterol and
heart disease. The presence of high glucose levels in the body can cause our blood vessels to contract.

Elevated sodium levels can negatively affect the function of the inner lining of the blood vessels, called
the endothelium.

Stress

It increases heart rate and makes breathing faster than normal. It makes you breathe faster in an effort
to quickly distribute oxygen-rich blood to your body. Stress can cause high blood pressure.
Alcohol

Alcohol can damage the heart, which can lead to stoke and high blood pressure. It is one of the
leading cause of cancer and it can also damage our liver. Overconsumption of alcohol causes death of
brain cells, which can lead to brain disorder as well as a lower level of mental or physical function.

Exercise

This provides the muscles with the necessary oxygen and nutrients to provide the muscles with energy.
The heart muscle will grow and strengthen. The heart muscle will become more efficient in heart rate
and stroke volume.

Healthy Diet

Drink enough water.


Stay hydrated to maintain a healthy heart and lungs for your body to work more efficiently. Increase
hydration by: drinking a glass of water before each meal and carrying your water with you.

Have enough rest.

For teenagers, we need atleast 8-10 hours of sleep a day. It’s the only way our cells can regenerate after
a day of non-stop work. Our body needs rest so that the next day, we have the energy to meet life’s
demands.
