ABSTRACT
During the last few decades several buildings have been built utilizing belt truss and
outrigger system for the lateral loads transfer (throughout the world). This system is very
effective when used in conjunction with the composite structures especially in tall buildings.
The optimum location of outriggers and belt truss system provided at various positions along
the height of building using Linear and Non- Linear Analysis is the main scope of this research.
The key parameters discussed in this paper include lateral deflection, story drifts and base shear.
Nine different models were prepared for different positions of outrigger system along the height
and by providing X and V types of bracing systems results have been compared. Analysis of
RCC building provided with 1,2 and 3 outriggers are separately carried out using finite element-
based software (ETABS) following guidelines of revised IS: 1893 (Part 1)-2016 Seismic loads
are consider as per IS: 1893- 2016. The results indicate that lateral displacement and maximum
storey drift gets reduced by and respectively compared to conventional building when X-type
