Subject Physical Education/Health

Website https://nowcomment.com

How to use the tool This website allows for a lot of information to be shared
while multiple conversations are happening online; students
can comment on whatever they find interesting without
interrupting other conversations. The students do not need
to worry about taking notes while reading the article or the
discussion boards because full discussion transcript remains
accessible for student review and also teacher evaluation.
A single upload gives the entire class continuous access to
both the document and discussion transcript. Online
discussion is a new format that leverage students' comfort,
facility, and enjoyment of online and social media. This
web tool allows for students and teachers to make as many
comments as each person thinks is important, also leads to
more developed, detailed, and nuanced comments.
Students can take time to think through and fully express
their thoughts without being interrupted and engage with
other students to explore in similar or different opinions.
The comments are done in private and in a “safe”
environment for each student to express themselves openly.

Ideas for how the Elementary and Secondary Level:

tool can be used in
PK-1 - I would use this for students at an younger age to be
introduced to online group discussion forum. For example
elementary level kids would use this tool a few times
through the year, with the help of their parents. At a young
age it can be tough for them to understand this concept but
introducing it to them at such a young age will allow for
more in-depth thought down the road.

- I would use this tool to expose students to more material

outside the classroom that allows for in-class time to be
spent on other things. For example for secondary students I
would post articles or documents that cannot be covered in
class due to time constraints and other factors. This would
allow me as the teacher, to cover more material throughout
the year.
- I would use this to tool to reenforce what was learned in
class by having an document or article posted on the
website for the students to discuss among each other at
home. As in the previous example it can be used to cover
more material, but it will also be used to reenforce topics
that have been discussed in the classroom setting.

High School Level:

- This tool at the high school level would be used similar to
how it is used in the Elementary and Secondary level but
this online forum would now be used to discuss social
issues that are being discussed in society at the time. For
example if the topic being covered in health class is talking
about drug abuse among teenagers, this forum would
expose students to different articles that will show the
negative effects that drugs have on people.

Positives of Site - It is a great online discussion forum, it will allow the

students to collaborate on their ideas and see what other
classmates are thinking.

- It allows for the group discussion to be monitored by

teacher and see what students have participated in the
online discussion forum.

- It is a great tool for the teacher; allows them to reenforce

ideas covered in class or allows for more topics to be
covered when expanding discussion outside the classroom

- Great way for the whole class to come together and allow
an avenue for students to express themselves in a social
context

Negatives of Site -The challenge will be for the elementary level kids because
they will not be use to using this online tool and will most
likely need parent help

- Another issue will be if students do not actual read the

documents and instead just read other students comments
on the article.

-It could easy for some students to learn how to use it

compared to others. It can also be accessible for some but
others might not be able to use computers or mobile devices
due to their socioeconomics statues.

Peer’s Name: Amanda Nhek

Name of tool: Google Drive

Web Address: https://www.google.com/drive

Brief instruction of how to use tool:

Google Drive is an online tool that allow users to create, share, and collaborate with other users.
This tool can store documents, presentations, slide shows, articles, worksheets, and other
material. Google Drive is easily accessible to people when someone creates a google account for
free, once establishing an account a user can control privacy in settings and also share files with
other users, that have a google account.

Ideas for how the tool can be used in PK-12:

In Elementary and Secondary school I would use google drive to set up google classroom for
these students, introducing them to using an online platform for handouts, notes, or any other
relevant material for the class. For example, in health class when learning about the different
body parts and systems in the body I would upload different diagrams for the students to use.
Putting it on google drive would save paper for the teacher and would not overload students with
a bunch of handouts, that could lead them to becoming disorganized or losing the handouts.

At the high school level students would be expected to be comfortable using this online forum as
majority of the class material would be uploaded instead of being handed out. This way will
prepare students for college as classes will mainly distribute materials online through different
forums or websites. Also as a teacher today a lot of school districts will oversee each
departments paper usage and if they run over a set limit can be charged for the excessive copying
of material. Using google drive/classroom will allow teachers distribute information much more
efficiently and will keep their paper usage to a minimum. For example as a health all notes and
other relevant material would be uploaded through google drive and test/quizzes will be given
out as an paper copy.

Positives of Using Google Drive:

-Reduces the amount of paper used by the teacher

-Allows for material to be passed to the students more efficiently and quicker

-Google drive is completely free for students to sign-up for and use

-Allows for the teacher to integrate modern technology in his or her class time by either having
students bring devices to access google drive or, if fortunate, provided by the school itself.

Negatives of Using Google Drive:

-Elementary level and some secondary level students will need help from parents to sign up and
use google drive

-It could easy for some students to access Google drive/classroom but others might not be able to
use computers or mobile devices due to their socioeconomics situation and then that
responsibility falls on the teacher to make sure that students has the proper material.

-Have to be careful of what files to give to the students because at times if the file is too big it
can cause problems for accessing it by the students.
