 Indonesia Economic Development

Indonesia is one of the country in Southeast Asian which has a great economic potential,
even Indonesia is one of the country in the world which has strongest economic power and
makes us can be a member of G-20. That is something that can make us feel proud, but actually
Indonesia has strong economic power because our country has so much population so that it
will affect the amount of economic transaction that happen in Indonesia. The more economic
transaction happen in a country, the more economic power in it. For example, you can see it
from the list of countries with the most developing economic power in the world. Indonesia is
in rank 3 after China and India and as you know China and India are the most population country
in the world. Basically, economic development and economic power are different because
economic development is counted for per person and economic power is counted for the sum
of all person that live in a country. The real meaning of economic development is the process
by which a nation improves the economic, political, and social well-being of its people.
Economic development is basically counted the growth of the standard of living of people that
live in a nation. Indonesia economic development right now have showed strong growth, with
predictions that it could become the world’s fourth-largest by 2050. Certainly this economic
development will not change by itself. There are so many efforts to do to increase our economic
development and that is not an easy thing to do.
For developing our economic sector, there are 2 main factors that will have big effect
to our economic development if you can improve it. First, human resources. You can say that
human resources are the key factor of economic development. Without human resources,
you can not produce a product. Without human resources, you can not run your company
even you maybe can not start it because you need human to do it. Human is a subject of
economic process. Even if there aren’t many natural resources in your country but you have
a good human resources, it doesn’t matter. You can see it from a big country like Japan, South
Korea, USA, and many more. They do not have many natural resources but why they become
one of the most strongest country in the world. It is because of their human resources.
Although they do not have lot of natural resources like us, they use their human resources to
develop their country in other sectors like technology for USA, education and industry for
Japan, and entertainment for South Korea. The meaning of economic power is not always
about how many product from nature that you can sell, it’s about getting money whatever
the way is and not for trading only. Because of that, although a country have a lot of natural
resources but they do not have a good human resources, all of that natural resources will be
worthless because they do not know how to exploit it and it all has described how important
human resources for economic development.
Second, natural resources. As I have told before, natural resources are be part of
economic development key factor. Although a country can have a big economic development
even if they do not have natural resources, actually having natural resources can make your
way easier. Imagine Japan which just have human resources now have natural resources too.
I think they will not only be the strongest country in the world, they can control the world.
Japan person is really smart and hard worker. They will not give up until they get what they
want. Even when their natural resources are really limited, they try to make invention so that
they can produce something that their nature can not do like vegetable or fruit. They make it
all in artificial habitat. Imagine if this Japan country has natural resources which they never
have. They will be a really big country and that is why natural resource is important because
as you can see natural resources is the basic of all and human resources who control it. If
natural resources as the basic have a great amount, it is really easy for human resources to
develop the economy because you don’t need to import product from overseas. Just exploit
it on your own country and done.
Natural and human resources are the biggest factor of economic development. So if
you want to improve our economic development, give more attention to them. The first thing
that we should do is improving our human resources. We need to provide education means,
fulfill their nutrition, improve personality, provide scholarship and together we can improve
the quality of our human resources. Like human resources, natural resources must be
preserved too. Although natural resources are the basic and everything you get are from
nature, you are forbidden to exploit it as much as you want because nature is not just for us
but for our children too. If we exploit it too much and doesn’t do conservation, it will be
damaged and give us bad effect too. Like what happens in Sidoarjo, East Java, because there
is a natural gas drilling company which just want to take benefit from nature without
preserved it, a disaster called Lumpur Lapindo happened. Lumpur Lapindo is a disaster which
is there is a super big mudflow which have a lot of dangerous substance on it suddenly go out
and it never stop until now. There are so many home which drowned and a lot of people must
be evacuated because it is really dangerous to live near the disaster location. Of course, That
disaster give our country a lot of loss. Because of it, I think we should know the importance
of conservation is and that is why we should preserved our nature. The conclusion is although
human resources is a key factor of economic development, preserved nature is no less
important because for a country which have so many natural resources like us, nature is the
main factor of our economic development. Not only that, although our economic
development has shown a great result, but if we compare it to gigantic country like USA, we
look like an ant compared to an elephant. So, there are still so many efforts to do especially
for improving our human resource to make our economic development be better because
our natural resources are undoubted.
