Liam Sternfeldt 3/8/19 Period 1

My Path

I chose air traffic controller for my career this includes helping airline pilots to navigate

at an airport. Qualities that naviance gave me were enterprising, conventional, and realistic. I feel

these qualities that naviance game me suits me and be good for the job. Job would suit me for

two reasons one I like planes, and air traffic controlling takes time and precision which I would

do if I got to help these pilots.

This job includes lots of practice and a lot of schooling. Before you can become a real air

traffic controller first you have to have your Associate's degree which will take two years to

achieve. Then you have to take a biodata test which includes testing how well you can control

your behaviors. Next you wonder the pay, annually your pay would be $124,540. This supports

the lifestyle that I chose on the Indiana reality check. Now the growth of the job is 3% in the last

two years. Which is slower than average but this job could never be replaced by any robot.

This job includes a lot of human interaction talking on the radio and talking with other

coworkers. The day in the life of an air traffic controller includes working indoors but looking

outside. You would normally get there and sit down at whatever desk they sit you at. You are all

basically doing the same thing. They do have position rotations which means you would change

you assignment or whatever you were directing. This happens at regular times like lunch break,

it’s designed to test your flexibility. This is what you would be doing during the day.

The FAA recommends earning an undergraduate degree, at minimum, from a college that

offers an approved Air Traffic Controller training initiative program. Which takes four years so,

with getting the associates degree which takes two years and the training initiative program

which takes another five months. So at a minimum it will take you seven years. You will need to

go to college. Although when you do get out I feel it will be fun.

This is a job I would like to pursue it seems after all this research look like to be a fun

job. My perspective has changed entirely on this job. When I started this I didn’t think I would

like it but now that the research has been done I do in fact like this job. If these people were

never here then there would be a lot more crashes then you would think. What would have

happened if we all did research on a job before we took it. Would donald Trump still be where he

is today or would apple even exist?
