Raising
Wind TURBinES
to a whole new level

HiGHER iS BETTER
and no hybrid tower takes your turbine
of choice higher than Atlas CTB. TM
As the availability of sites is reduced, increasing hub heights is the right path to
higher wind speeds and converting marginal sites into productive investments. It’s
no secret that the stronger and steadier the wind, the more consistent, efficient and
profitable your power generation can be. And it’s no secret that until now, those
winds have been beyond your reach.
Well, not anymore. After three years of development and testing, Tindall is pleased
to introduce the reliable, efficient solution to help you break through the 100 meter
hub height barrier and reach higher wind speeds.
The Atlas Concrete Tower Base (CTB), an innovative design, will enable you to raise
your OEM turbines to heights reaching 130+ meters. What’s more, you can do it with
a practical, economically feasible pre-cast concrete tower base that’s GL-Certified
to 130+ meters and is the only hybrid concrete system developed and manufactured
right here in North America.
• GL-Certified for multiple OEM turbines and hub heights up to 130 meters
70-100 METERS
conventional steel mono-towers, your turbine can now reach
heights of 130 meters.
UP TO 140 METERS
The secret lies in the system’s simplicity. The
flare-based, pre-cast concrete lower section accommodates
a conventional steel mono-tower upper section.
The large-footprint base, generally 15-18 meters in diameter,
is composed of multiple pre-cast staves that are erected and
then stabilized by a concrete transition. These staves are easily
30-40 METERS
transported by truck or rail and are erected using conventional
cranes. Perhaps best of all, the load-distributing footprint
requires nothing more than a simple ring foundation with a
depth of one meter or less with zero uplift. And because of
its unique structure, the Atlas CTB also provides ample enclosed
space for electrical distribution and control equipment in addition
to other support functions.
Fifty years from now, the Atlas CTB you install today should still be strong, stable and providing superior
service – all with minimal maintenance and expense. And there are good reasons why you should expect
nothing less.
Because of its wide diameter footprint, unique post-tensioning process and the inherent dampening
characteristics of concrete, the Atlas CTB can deliver unparalleled reliability and performance. Its unique
construction puts the transition zone of the tower in a state of bi-axial compression, protecting transition
elements and stave sections from the fatigue associated with high cycle loading.
