Clayton State University’s Theatre Announces the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the
Opening of the New Renovated Theatre

Morrow- March 18, 2019. Less than a month away and Clayton State will officially have a
brand new and renovated Theatre. With the new opening the Company will be hosting a ribbon
cutting ceremony with the faculty and students of clayton state and the locals of the are who have
been supportive of the program for some time now.

Clayton State has been using the theatre for shows produced by the Universities theatre program.

On March 29 & 30th and April 4th & 5th at 7:30 pm, the Theatre program is producing and
performing their first show once it opens back up. The show is called The Laramie Project which
is about ten investigators of the Tectonic Theatre Project traveled to Laramie, Wyoming to make
more sense or the murder of Mathew Shepard, a gay college student in the year of 1998. The
member collected over 200 interviews and the whole project reflects on how a community
reacted to the tragic event that took place.

This program has produced many shows and many talents have performed on the very exact
stage. With this new and improved theatre, the strive for more success is endless. With the new
improvements, we hope to see productions take their talents to the next level. The program
already has star-striking talent and now with a dazzling facility to back them up, just be prepared
to be amazed of what Clayton State University has to offer.

Clayton State University’s Theatre Program’s productions are designed as actual courses, so
each student involved in a production will receive college credit. Because we bring in
professionals to cover the technical aspects of our productions, students have the opportunity to
work under professionals in the industry and sometimes move up to lead technical positions in
our productions. We have often hired theatre alumni as actors in productions. Students have the
opportunity to make valuable connections with professionals in the community so that by
graduation, students can immediately begin a career in theatre and/or film.
