Persuasive Essay
Edgar Ortega
Abstract
This essay is a persuasion on how false rape and abuse allegations affect and ruin innocent men.
It goes into how these false rape and abuse allegations may negatively impact their social and
professional life. This will also include how difficult it is for a man to prove his innocence as a
vast amount of evidence has to be found to make a case and those who do not have evidence of it
being a flase rape or abuse allegation must either wait for the woman to confess or spend jail
time.
False Rape Accusations Ruin Innocent Men
Claim: False rape/ sexual allegations can ruin a man even after saying it happened decades
ago
Toulmin
Introduction: The story of Benedict is he is a man who was falsely accused of rape by a female
he met at a bar. After a couple dates both agreed by text and by word of mouth to have
consensual sex as Benadict asked her if she felt comfortable. One year after having sex with that
female he met at the bar, she decided it was time to accuse him for rape allegations claiming he
forced himself on her and even deleted texts to try to hide her consent the night they had sex. She
took him to court and filed a rape claim and was asking around 250K for emotional and physical
damages. Soon it was found she was lying and Benedict counter sued for the amount she was
asking and won.
Claim: Men can be falsely accused of rape and sexual misconduct just by word of mouth with
no evidence to prove
Evidence: False rape allegations are brought up months or years later on usually after the
encounter, if any.
Warrant 1: False rape allegation impact innocent mens lives and potentially ruin their life
and reputation.
Evidence: An example would be Benedict who lost his wife, friends and several family
after he was accused of rape. He lost money due to court fees.
Warrant 2: If it partially ruined one mans life, it can be worse for another that cannot
defend himself in court. The impact false rape allegation has on men is it stays with them
forever as a bad memory.
Evidence: Men who have been falsely accused of rape repress the memory because its a
traumatzing experience. It follows them where they go because news spreads within their social
circle
Warrant 3: This combination of lies and wanting to ruin a mans life with false rape accusations
goes on to plague an innocent man and tarnish his social and professional life as some people
dont need evidence to believe any accusation.
Counterclaim: Instead of focusing on how mens lives are ruined by false rape accusations, the
focus could be brought more towards how to help men who have been already falsely accused
and convicted of rape and make an alliance of men going their own way not risking their
success
False Rape Accusations Ruin Innocent Men
Rebuttal: False rape allegations can not be stopped completely there can be ways to help
innocent males protect themselves and proceed with caution with any woman encountered and
to document all instances
Closing: What I want to leave to better understand is False rape accusations ruin men as soon
as they are accused. It ruins innocent mens lives by tarnishing their social and professional life
even slashing through his assests and finances.
