1. Background

The idea of our project comes from an effort to make human life easier by any methods
possible. There has been some work related to our project done before and this technology by
which you can control electrical appliances by just clapping is being used in many countries.

 History:

This idea was first introduced by Joseph Pedott, founder of Joseph Enterprises, Inc. who
worked on it to make the first ‘Clapper’ in 1985.

 Bill Gates:

Many of the world’s most rich people including Bill Gates (one of his houses took seven
years and $62 million to build, in which he used high tech devices and technology and clap
switch is one of them.) have had their houses’ appliances converted to this technology.

2. Scope

The main purpose of our project is to make this idea become global so that people can have
some relief from this fast paced and exhausted life that is today. Our project can provide much
assistance to many people as by this project, we can turn the electrical circuits and appliances
(lights etc) ‘on’ or ‘off’ by just using a clap.

3. Importance of Project

This project is of utmost importance in our point of view as it has many large scale uses and
advantages.

 Reduces the Use of Plastic:

First and foremost, our project provides an alternative to the switch boards that destroy
the beauty of our walls in homes, offices and many other platforms. It will greatly reduce the use
of plastic which is used to make these switch boards and switches because we all know how plastic
is destroying our environment and how much we need to minimize its use in our lives.

 Makes life better:

Secondly, as we have discussed before, this technology makes our busy and fatigued life
much easier because we all have faced situations when we are tired so much that getting out
of our beds just to turn off a switch seems like a huge problem. It will also provides
assistance to the crippled people for example they would not have to call for someone just
to tell them to turn a switch in their room.
  Future of Clap Switch:

If we have enough funds, we can apply our projects idea to large scale by using larger relay
circuits to control many, heavier circuits like in factories or controlling multiple appliances at
once for example we can change the themes of the house with one clap.

4. Possible approach or methodology

To carry out this project we will be using a number of materials including,

 4017 IC
 Relay
 some resistors
 mic
 PCB board.

We will be connecting all the instruments on the PCB board according to the circuit diagram below
and we will be using a soldering iron to solder the instruments so that they don’t get damaged.
