Assignment Title: Senior Paper Social Issue

Student Writing Goal: My renewed writing goal is to turn in a well put together writing assignments. I will strive for an
A paper. I know that I am very much capable of getting an A. An A in any major letter grade for any writing assignment
that will contribute to my long-term academic goal.

What was the purpose of this writing assignment?

The purpose of our senior social issue essay was to seek information about any relatable, current social issue
that is in effect in today’s society. The social issue that I choose was the argument of reliability of the electric
vehicle (EV). I found myself defending regular cars with combustion engines as their opponent in the
automotive industry, the EV, is an extremely poor competitor. Our task at the end of the assignment was to
abruptly solve the issue. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish.

How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
Despite not finishing the assignment, personally, I feel like I turned in a solid essay. I had great transitional
sentences and never jumped straight into a point. I provided evidence for all my points and had a great use of
vocabulary. Due to my perfectionist behavior and my ADD, it took me longer to complete and unfortunately
did not finish. If I personally graded the assignment with writing rubric, I would receive – Statement of
Purpose/Focus:4 – Organization:4 – Elaboration of Evidence:4 – Language and Vocabulary: 4

What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
I feel like I did well in my language and my topic transitions. I used adequate vocabulary that made sense and
vocabulary that made the subject standout and bring more attention to itself. In addition it a great use of
language, I have also properly used transitional sentences. I never carried on with any run on sentences and
never jumped in to a point without warning. Everything that is spoke about was in order. For example, when
talking about the efficiency of EV batteries, I then spoke about but safety of the batteries, its location, and the
potential of it suddenly combusting into flames.
Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?
I was short on time and rushed the essay towards the end. I was also extremely fatigue and was not paying
attention to my vocabulary and punctuation. I need to go back into the assignment and fixed the many issues I
did not notices when initially typing the first time. I also went back and edited a couple sentences that made
sense in the initial typing session, but did make sense in a recent reread.

What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
For one, I need to stop procrastinating. I also need to focus more on my assigned task. I also need to work on
my perfectionist behavior. That is what really hurt me in the long run. I was unable to focus, fell behind, and
was unable to catch up.

To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
My overall grade was a 50 out of 100. I revived an F and that is nowhere near my goal. This horrible grade
affected my long-term academic goal and has made it impossible to receive a straight A report card. This was
my lowest graded assignment and it’s a shame as I put a lot of work into it. The requirement for this assay
was a 3 to page paper and I have almost finished 8 and still had plenty more to say.
