Who kill the Reconstruction?

The Reconstruction allowed black people to vote and to be a part of the government.

Before reconstruction there's Civil War happen just to end the slavery in the south and to give

black people a rights to vote and Civil War was the most deadliest/most devastating war in U.S

History. The causes of the Civil War is too much slavery in the south and black people were not

having a equal rights that white people. After the Civil War the Reconstruction came.

Reconstruction is a timeline when America is rebuilding/repairing all the damage that the civil

war. Reconstruction were ended in 1877, whether or not it was the North or the South that ended

the reconstruction, will be examine here. Although the North was widely perceived to have gad

problem of corruption, the south had the worse problem involving racism and violence when

compared with the north.

When looking at the history the North is partially blame for ending the reconstruction

because of corruption of the government. According to Harper’s Weekly, 1876 (Doc. C) shows

that north were corrupted and the government were busy in scandals and forget about the

reconstruction in the south. Basically government lost their focus in the reconstruction in the

south because of the corruption in the north and trying to fix it The North however, only can

claim part of the responsibility for the Reconstruction. Furthermore the South also made

important contributions and can be blamed to ending the reconstruction.

When looking at the history, we can say that in the south has a lot of violence going on

and racism during the reconstruction time period that can be the causes of the reconstruction

being ended. According to Abram Colby, testimony to a joint House and Senate Committee in

1872 (Doc. B) describe his experience with the Ku Klux Klan, claimed that he was whipped

many times. By testifying before the House of Representative and Senate. Mr. Colby the

legislature from Georgia was hoping for some kind of assistance from the Federal Government,

to protect him. In other word black people voting rights were not protected after Reconstruction

ended. The South was has a part of being responsible for the reconstruction being ended.
