School concert- actor blocking notes

Actor one (highlighted yellow) plays the Principal. Actor one waits stage left for
entry cue. Actor one will be cued by staging crew member.
Actor two (no dialogue- highlighted green) plays the fashion runway model.
Actor two waits stage left behind scenic portal for entry through the portal.
Actor one will be cued to enter the stage by a staging crew member.
Houselights up, background music. General audience chatter. There is a title
slide projected on the screen reading ‘North West High School showcase
evening’. Houselights dim. Mec enters stage to move the lectern into the
correct position. Then Principal enters stage left and stands at lectern.

Principal Good evening, parents and friends of the students of North West
High School. Our students have prepared a wonderful selection of
creative pieces to showcase for you tonight as part of our
fundraiser.
Before we begin I would like to thank the teachers for their hard
work in putting together this showcase; and acknowledge the very
talented students involved for all the effort they have put into
making this a special night.
Please be upstanding now as we sing out national anthem.
Principal remains at lectern. Followspot fades to half intensity. Recording of
the national anthem is played.
When followspot returns to full:

Principal First up we have a short film, created by Year 9 student Jennie

Fisher. Jennie decided to make this film as a tribute to the animals
she encountered during her recent trip to Africa. We are
extremely proud of Jennie; she entered this film into the creative
minds national short film competition in April and she was
awarded second place for her outstanding effort. Let’s give Jennie
a round of applause.
Principal remains at lectern. Followspot goes out. Short film is played. When
followspot returns to full:

Principal Now we have a fashion show, displaying costumes designed and

make by the Year 11 Textiles and Design students. I think they
need a round of applause for their efforts- you are about to see
some wonderful costumes here! These students have designed
and made their pieces based on a brief to create pieces with a
‘medieval-but-modern’ flair. Let’s see what they came up with.
Principal remains at lectern. Followspot goes out. Fashion show on catwalk.
Actor two (Fashionista) enters through scenic portal stage right and walks
up and down the catwalk twice before exiting the stage through the portal,
stage right. Please don’t walk too fast as there are cues that need to
happen whilst Fashionista is on stage.
When followspot restores on principal:

Principal Finally, to close our showcase this evening, we are going to hear a
very special live performance, played by our year 10 student
Trevor Waterdragon. Trevor has come to this school from his
native Gippsland, and has shown us he has a real talent for playing
the twelve-string guitar.
Trevor recently was invited to play in the prestigious Muppets
tribute band, which will play at the Byron Bay Bluesfest next year.
We wish Trevor all the very best for this great opportunity, but at
the same time, we rather selfishly hope he’ll be back at school
with us, so we can continue to enjoy his wonderful performances.
Take it away Trevor!
Principal exits stage left. Lights behind cyc come up to revel the puppet
‘Trevor’. Trevor’s song is played. After the first couple of verses, the
Principal barges back onto the stage, stands in front of the revolve and cuts
Trevor off. Principal uses a hand signal from Mec to take his cue and come
back on stage.

Principal That’s enough, thank you Trevor.

Once the music is cut and the focus is off Trevor:

Thank you once again for attending our showcase tonight, ladies
and gentlemen. Don’t forget to give generously to our fundraise.
We’re hoping to raise one million dollars to build a new
performing arts centre for our school, to be completed in 2027.
We can’t do this without your generous support, so please…cough
up. Let’s have another round of applause for our wonderful
teachers and students.
Please drive home safely. See you next year.
Blackout. When the lights come up, Principal takes a bow.
