Background Information
● I have always had a passion for history and developed a love for government and politics in my years of high school. When
given the opportunity to come to Butler I wanted to expand my love of said topics and decided to major in a combination of the
two. The undergrad major I chose was also influenced by my desire to go to law school, and the knowledge and skills gained
from both History and Political Science translate into law-related studies well. That being said, I no longer possess the desire to
go to law school, but the degree is versatile nonetheless and opens a career path into the actual work I want to do.
What do you want the outcome to be? Is this outcome directly related to your “why?”
● As stated above, I wanted to attend law school post-Butler, and I chose a major that would serve as a good platform to pursue
such studies. As time has passed, and I have changed, I realized this is not the path meant for me. I find myself drawn to
helping people in some facet; something I know want to pursue by working in a non-profit. My major grants me many
potential aspirational avenues to navigate, and I’m eager to see which road life takes me down. As of the moment, grad school
is still in my head as I could get a MSW, M. Ed, MBA, MS in Wildlife Conservation, or even a PHD. Additionally, I am
chasing an Education Minor to explore teaching- for I may want to pursue an alternative certification route and become a high-
school history and government teacher. My studies, more than anything, have helped illuminate what I genuinely am

passionate about and have gave me the motivation and means to seize my future. I want to be able to use these passions
discussed in the why in order to make an impact on the world I will be living in.
How are you going to work toward making that outcome possible?
● I have begun to gain experience in working for non-profits in my internship I am currently fulfilling at Thrive Nonprofit
Solutions in Indianapolis. From here, I have also gained more experience in research in two research-paper oriented classes I
am undertaking this semester. I also have experience working with children and people of very diverse backgrounds as a camp
counselor. It is also worth noting that I have gained extensive leadership experience as a Resident Assistant in the Fairview
House at Butler. In short, I am gaining experience applicable to any career path I may choose by being involved with a variety
of opportunities both on and off campus. My professional experiences have helped, in part, understand the future role/ career I
may fulfill in the upcoming years of my life- a useful analysis for I am still any many ways deciding the route I may want to
take.
