Midterm Examination
Essay. Briefly discuss the following questions in no more than 100 words.
1. Is Data Analysis ToolPak in Microsoft Excel beneficial to you as a graduate student?
a. If yes, state the benefits you can gain from this application.

Yes, actually the Data analysis toolpak may help the students in their thesis works,
especially when they gathered statistical data. If you need to develop complex statistical or
engineering analyses, you can save steps and time by using the Analysis ToolPak. You provide
the data and parameters for each analysis, and the tool uses the appropriate statistical or
engineering macro functions to calculate and display the results in an output table. Some tools
generate charts in addition to output tables.

The data analysis functions can be used on only one worksheet at a time. When you
perform data analysis on grouped worksheets, results will appear on the first worksheet and
empty formatted tables will appear on the remaining worksheets. To perform data analysis on
the remainder of the worksheets, recalculate the analysis tool for each worksheet. This helps
not only the graduating students but also the statistician. They can easily compute number
using this application so that the time that will be used to compute in a statistical data will be
lessen and can be accurate.

2. How will you promote the use of Data Analysis ToolPak in Microsoft Excel to other graduate
student or even undergraduate students who are conducting thesis writing?

It can easily be promoted by having a training or seminar. I can consult my professor to

have this kind of toolpak for us to have a hard time computing a statistical data in a research o
thesis works. Teaching how to use this kind of toolpak may aware the students on how to use
this kind of thing and for them to less time in computing. Also in promoting this kind of toolpak,
we need professional users who can teach the students to guide them on using the Data
Analysis ToolPak.Most of the time when you run statistics, you want to use statistical software.
These tools are built to do calculations like t-tests, chi-square tests, correlations, and so on.
Excel isn’t meant for data analysis. But that doesn’t mean you can’t do it.

Unfortunately, Excel’s statistical functions aren’t always intuitive. And they usually give you
esoteric results. So instead of using stats functions, we’re goi ng to use the go-to Excel statistics
add-in: the Data Analysis Toolpak.

3. State the difference between citing electronic sources from the usual citation derived from
books or journal.

This is their comparison. Electronic sources or internet citation needs to use

technological platform like internet connection and computer. By this usage, they can scan
information and details in the World wide web. There are advantages and disadvantages of
using electronic sources citation. First I will discuss what are the good benefits of using this kind
of matter. Using electronic sources, it is very reliable for the people to get data and information
that they are needed to their workplace or even in their school for research and gathering data
purposes. Second, it is not time consuming, it can easily search anything regarding on what you
want to find. Usually this is an easy process on gathering information or otherwise instant
procedure of data finding
On the other hand, books are journal are the two traditional way on finding information.
They can find at the school or we say on the library. Furthermore, people using books are not
few due to technological advancement. However there are different factors that we must
observe when we use this kind of learning materials. We know that internet nowadays has lots
of information and articles that we needed surpass the problem that we are having of, however,
there are information that we can’t find in the internet and only in the books where we can find
the needed data. One of the advantages of book is that when we don’t afford to have an
internet connection, we can read whatever the books contained, I believed that books must not
be obsolete, because there are information in the internet that is not genuine.

Final Examination.
1. How do you perform smart searching for the following: A. Images B. Documents C. Videos
To perform smart searching, there must be a knowledge on the things that we must find
to. Scanning and skimming through phones or computers can be a good way to explore smart
searching. In phones and computers, it is important that all images, documents and videos are
well organized for us to find easily on whatever files that we wanted to see. On the other hand,
in computers such as desktop or latops, we can use shortcut keys for us to easily derived the
files that we wanted to see immediately especially when we are in hurry. Always make sure that
the phone or computers are away from viruses that causes malfunction. Be wise/ smart in
protecting your data or files so that we can avoid bombarded files that is not important that
causes us hard time to find a things .

2. What possible advantages and disadvantages can be observed if ever virtual laboratory will
be implemented in the following: A. Department of Education B. Higher Education Institutions
(HEI) C. HEI with Distance Education Program
Nowadays, the traditional way of learning style is being obsolete. Students want to learn
some new things using our technological advancement. In this kind of things, the learners can
be active and attentive in this kind of circumstances. Students wants to enjoy while learning.
They don’t want dull things that they only use their imagination on whatever their teachers
discussion.
There are advantages and disadvantages that must be observed once this kind of
laboratory is being implemented. We know that using virtual laboratory, students can
experiments through simulations programs that is in the laboratory area, however, not all
students can reach out in this kind of matter. There are advantages of using virtual laboratory,
One is that students are now capable to see actually the things that are found in the laboratory,
even though that it is only simulation. There are different kind of virtual that students can used
in the laboratory. They can use Virtual Reality (VR), that they can put it in their eyes and actually
see the specimens or things like laboratory equipment or they can use computers with the
application that they can pour or stir chemicals. It can be fascinated on every students to
perform this kind of virtual laboratory. However, not all things has only have advantages using
virtual laboratory. There are barriers and problems in our educational institution of using this
kind of matter. Several problems are, the range of distance of the school in the area. In using
virtual laboratory, we need internet connection to function the VL. Especially in the rural area,
teachers or facilitators must have knowledge and training to teach this kind of thing. Numerous
problems can also be encountered like lack of area where they can put this laboratory, and also
electric current in the area, because not all schools has electric current so this will not function
due to lack of things in the school and area.

3. State the salient and discriminating points in using virtual laboratory.

It seems that there is nothing that cannot be done online anymore. On a personal level,
we do everything from paying bills to scheduling entire vacations in a matter of minutes
because of online access. Think about it for a moment: Now consider classroom technology and
how it is also evolving rapidly. Implementation of technology in the classroom goes beyond
Google searches and reading apps. It stretches into every area of learning, including the
sciences. Virtual laboratories are popping up in school districts and online learning curriculum
across the country and making it easier and less expensive for students to do experiments
remotely.

Salient things on using virtual laboratory is that it is flexible to access. Perhaps the most
often cited benefit of any online learning is that it can be done at the student’s convenience and
when he or she learns best. The same is true of virtual laboratories if the experiments are on
the student’s own time. In some cases, a virtual lab may be used during regular class time which
narrows this benefit but still allows flexibility for the teacher who is not limited by using
resources within a strict timeframe. Key points of using virtual laboratory is that it has instant
feedback. Students can redo experiments on the spot while they are still in a critical thinking
mode. All the results are recorded, making communication between teachers and students
more efficient too. Experiments no longer have a “one chance” option and students can analyze
what went wrong immediately and give it another shot. Higher efficiency, lower costs, better
equipment – is there a downside to virtual labs? I’d say it is too early to really see the effects,
positive or negative, of science through virtual experimentation, but a few red flags pop into my
own mind. I remember many of my in-class science experiments vividly. The sights, smells and
sounds of biology and chemistry reactions at my own hand cemented the lessons into memory.
It was real for me because it was right in front of my face and I was the one controlling the
outcomes. It has also discriminating points like some people may consider them impersonal,
there will always be people who will vastly prefer in-person learning to digital learning. Some
tutors and students may be uncomfortable with the idea of either delivering or engaging with a
course that is taught entirely from a virtual classroom. Another one is that some tutors and
students needs extra training, Most virtual classrooms are designed to be used intuitively. Most
students and staff are likely to be extremely comfortable using tech of this kind. However, some
staff and students won’t be as confident using digital tools and may need additional support to
get started. It may be necessary to have a dedicated member of I.T. support staff available to
fulfil this role.

4. Enumerate the procedure in submitting assignments in Edmodo.

According to Wikipedia, Edmodo is an educational technology company offering a
communication, collaboration, and coaching platform to K-12 schools and teachers. The
Edmodo network enables teachers to share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and
manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents. Due to technology, even
assignments can be passed in an application, so students don’t need to bring their notebooks
for the teachers to check if the students already has an assignment.

So now, there are procedures in Edmodo on how to submit our assignment. To

locate your Assignment:

1. Click the "Filter posts by" link at the top right of your "Latest Posts" area and

Note: If you need to resubmit an Assignment, you can do so only if your teacher allows this.
Once your teacher has graded the Assignment, you are unable to resubmit the Assignment,
unless the teacher clears the grade first.

5. How important is computer ethics particularly in today's world?

If you think that ethics are all about living a more moral and principled life, you must practice
the same everywhere, even in the computer field, where sooner or later, you would face a
dilemma concerning software piracy. When we talk about computer ethics, software piracy
reflects in our minds first of all, followed by pornography, spamming, unauthorized access to
somebody else’s computer, and hacking. So what are computer ethics? Much like the moral
code of conduct in routine matters, computer ethics deal with the conduct shown by computer
professionals and common computer users in operating computers and the internet. Computer
ethics, also known as information technology ethics, deal with the moral and ethical use of
computer applications, software, and data storage devices.

Computer ethics are increasingly becoming important because of the rising number of cyber
crime issues, including software piracy, unauthorized access, pornography, spamming, target
marketing, and hacking. The widespread popularity and use of the Internet has given rise to a
number of cybercrime issues and concerns about user privacy. Various computing applications
are tampered with to invade into other’s privacy. Malware, spyware, freeware, and browser
cookie exploits are some of the notorious computing applications that have spurred the debate
of importance of ethical behavior in technology

6. State the advantage of a webinar from the usual seminar.

Webinar = Web + Seminar and this means a presentation, lecture, or workshop that is
transmitted over the Web. Obviously, good communication software and a camera need to be
installed for this in order that web-interactive presentations can be effectively made. "Online
workshops" are also regularly announced and conducted by some software companies. As of
now, many conferences mostly feature physical presentations of speakers (plenary talks and oral
presentations) and also virtual presentations using computer communication systems. Recently,
Webinars - which include all virtual presentations only - are getting popular. This saves the travel
cost, travel time, visa and such issues for international delegates registered for the conference.
On the other hand, this completely eliminates research interactions, discussions with group
participants, social exchanges, sight-seeing and culture aspects. With the advent of technology
and fast internet connections around the world, can Webinars emerge as front-runners in
Conferences and can they replace the traditional conferences with direct interactions, social /
cultural exchanges, sightseeing, tourism
A webinar gives you the opportunity to continue to reach your target group when the
broadcast is over, since each webinar can also be watched afterwards. This enables you to
increase both the reach and the impact of your message. Needless to say, it is important that
your webinar can be found easily via Google, which is why a well-designed webinar is search-
engine optimised (SEO). Reach your audience and reinforce your message. Webinars enable you
to utilise polls, chats and calls to action, or to show your viewers PowerPoint slides or videos.
The more interactive your webinar is, the greater the impact of your message will be.
