Introduction:

Starting from 2014, Ministry of Education has introduced three new subjects to be taught

to Standard 4 students. One of the new subjects is Information Technology and Communication

(ICT). The subject will prepare the students with ICT skills and ICT knowledge.

ASSURE MODEL

A (Analysis learners and facilities)

- Identify the student’s ICT skills (students will be required to do a presentation slides.

- Identify the facilities and utilities needed to carry out the learning process : The T-L

session will be carried out in computer lab (LCD projector in good condition, two

netbooks fully charged for each group)

- Teacher will switch on the netbook and go to the Frog VLE website

- Reduce the time for the students to switch on the netbook and go the Frog VLE

website.

S (State standards and objective)

At the end of the class:

- List elements of Multimedia (text, graphics or image, audio, video and animation)

- Compare size of file format for each of the multimedia elements (text, graphics or

image, audio, video and animation)

- Strategies: Cooperative learning with using technology

- Teaching aids: Textbook, Frog VLE and Kahoot application.

- Technology: Frog VLE –Google Drive and Google Slide, Web browser.

Teacher’s instruction:

I want all of you create 5 groups consist of 5 students. The topic for the first group

(text), second group (image), third group (audio), fourth group (video) and last group

(animation). Create a Google Slide presentation about the definition of the elements

and file formats for the multimedia element. The definition for the element must be

taken from the textbook. Each group will be given two netbook. One netbook can be

used to do the presentation and the other one to browse for the information on the file

format for the multimedia elements. You must complete the slide within 10 minutes.

Share the slide with me. Then, all of group members need to present within 10

minutes. Now, 2 members of each group come here to take the netbook.

U (Utilize technology, media and materials)

- Student refer to the textbook and web browser for the presentation

- All group submit the presentation by sharing the slide to the teacher via Google Drive

in Frog VLE

R (Require learners participation)

- Teacher asks the student s to read aloud the definition of multimedia in the textbook

- All group members must participate in doing the presentation slides and present the

slides.

E (Evaluate and revise)

- Kahoot quiz to test student’s understanding

- Teacher will instruct a representative from each group return one netbook.

- Only one netbook will be used to play Kahoot.

- Teacher’s instruction: Before we begin our Kahoot quiz, each group needs to return

one netbook at the table in front of the teacher’s table. We will play quiz in group.

Activities Induction set:

1. The teacher writes on the whiteboard and state the

learning standard for today’s class.

2. Teacher asks the students if they have heard the

term of multimedia before.

3. Teacher asks the students again what the first thing

that they think about when they heard of

multimedia.

4. Teacher asks the students to open the textbook

page 43.

Implementation:

1. Teacher asks the students to read aloud the

definition of multimedia in the textbook.

2. The teacher will ask 5 students to list a multimedia

element for each student.

3. The teacher will divide the students into 5 groups

consist of 5 students.

4. Each group will be given a multimedia element

randomly.

5. Each group needs to do a presentation slide using

Google Slides in Frog VLE within 10 minutes. The

slides must include the definition of the elements

and file formats for the multimedia element.

6. Each group will be given 2 netbooks so they can

do separate task in doing the presentation and

browse for the information on the file format for

the multimedia elements. They can search the

examples of format for the elements but the

definition must come from the textbook.

7. Each of the groups must present within 10 minutes.

8. Teacher gives feedback and appreciation to all the

groups.

Evaluation:

1. Teacher conducts Kahoot quiz in groups.

2. Top 3 groups will be given rewards.

3. Teacher summarize today’s topic.
