ABSTRACT - The laboratory practice consisted of determining the magnitude and speed of consolidation of a sample of a
saturated and unaltered fine soil. To achieve this, the Taylor method is used, which is characterized by being faster and easier
to understand. Basically, the method is based on carrying out load increases after 100% of the consolidation is achieved, that
is, the load is only increased when the pore pressure has dissipated and this is evident when interpreting the results they get in
the graph of the root of time vs deformation. This procedure is carried out in order to measure the height change of the sample
and determine the relationship between the effective axial force and the void ratio. Also, to have an effective practice, the
parameters of the I.N.V. E 151-13, which explains how to obtain experimentally the magnitude and speed of consolidation of
soil samples.
