Partey very recently commited himself to Atleti

Crystal Palace don't want to sell AWB, and they don't need; Zaha is leaving.
Someone has to be fired if we don't get Toby, and I'll take anything (Manolas) over looking to the
XI on game match and seeing "Jones" or "Smalling" on it.
Those wingers from PSV (Lozano and Bergwjin) are pretty much there for the taking, as is Pepe and
Meunier.
It won't happen regardless of how bad we want it:

Koulibaly: has a "fuck you" fee from ADL, and if we're really thinking long term, there's no
point in to put all that money on a player who's on the wrong side of his prime while we
rebuild, unless Ole believes we can sort this shithole in less than two seasons.
Sancho: Zorc every week comes out to say "We're not selling, get fucked"

It was a legitimate question.

I haven’t seen but 4 full Ajax games this season. was responding to the guy
about where he would play, which is the same position lingard plays, the
point of a diamond and then asking if it was thought he’s that big of an
upgrade because I’m not sure how consistent he is and what exactly he’d
contribute.
With having Pogba, mata and lingard that play that role, is he that much
better that we’d prefer to sign him over a traditional winger with all the other
positions we have to fill?

Ziyech, if he joined our team, would be the best player at the tip of the
diamond for sure.
The question as to whether we want a pure RW is a different and
lengthy debate. Perhaps signing a top RB and 10 (eg Wan Bissaka and
Joao Felix) solves our width issue as well as our attacking quality. In
my opinion, people often say a RW is the be all and end all - for me,
sort the back line first and get the formation Ole wants - full backs can
provide width if we have a good spine - rn we don’t.
Sorry for undermining your question earlier - I initially thought you
were solely comparing Lingard and Ziyech’s quality - in which case, I
would say Ziyech is better. Tactical fit is another debate.

Agreed, which i also said in one of my other comments up there.

Backline to me is the biggest priority along with our midfield. If
we can get that sorted then it’s figuring out the attack.
I do think if we get AWB we’ll need to play a traditional RW
however as he really doesn’t contribute much going forward. If
we’re playing a 442 I hope we get meunier and rotate him and
dalot for width and go all out for a better 10 and let mata move
along.
Either way, I hope we see a system get played with players
playing positions they excel at.

If we're in for a RW we should just splurge for Sancho. He's a proper RW and he's
young and hopefully be entering his prime by the time we complete this rebuild.
Another "tweener" type player is a bit of a luxury and weird fit, even at a
discounted price. If you're LFC and you need a different look sometimes, get him,
we need too much help.

I’d be happy with Zaha or even Pepe. I’d rather us spend big to complete our
defensive line and midfield and risk our current attackers getting their act
together.

I’m not ever going to buy this argument that Pogba is being “shackled” or “held back” by
not being played as a #10. A supposed world class midfielder who is a world cup winner
and that has the talent that Pogba clearly has should not be rendered useless by being
played slightly deeper.

Sure, you're just not getting the best out of him. You're restricting your squad. You
can play Messi at #9 and he'd do fine. He's great. Pogba's great too (obviously not
Messi class -- no one is). Look at Kante at Chelsea this year. Still good, but not in
his best position. He's had to play more advanced and his game is a bit less than it
was.
There are certain players you build around... and Pogba is one of the best CMs in
the world and someone you should sorta build around. You give him a good squad
and let him do Pogba things and he'll impress. You can can definitely make him
play a more defensive role and he'll still do well (he did pretty good under Jose).
But that's not an ideal situation.

I can totally see him ending up at arsenal or Tottenham.

be promoted. We aren’t going to win the title next year, while we are building why not
promote 2-3 youth and see if we can get away with that.

Pogba is the only quality midfielder we have right now and who is good enough to
start.
Scott is very average and should be on the bench or send him out on loan where
he can get game time.
Fred is also a bench option.
Matic looks like he’s on the decline and is also a bench option.
Andreas is also very average and is a bench option at best. I would sell him now
because I don’t see him having a future here and he would be leaving on a free if
you let him go next season.
Herrera looks like he’s leaving to PSG.
Garner looks great but is nowhere near first team football. He can be used a little
here and there but that’s it. Same goes for our other youth prospects like Chong,
Gomes and Mason.
So if you look at it, Pogba is the only top midfielder we have right now who would
definitely start and even he might be leaving this summer.
One midfilder is not enough. We need at least two, one to replace Herrera and
another to replace Matic. Fred and Matic can be on the bench next season. If
Pogba leaves, we need three midfielders.
Fuck, this summer could be a nightmare for Ole with the amount of positions we
need to upgrade and players who are leaving/could leave on top of all that.

How on earth would you depend on 18 year old Garner and
17 year old Greenwood who’s barely had any experience in

Matic is not a bench option, Scott is not average. It’s not the 90s where we
could afford to have 5 good midfielders in one team.
Matic is just not an option viable for 60 games a season, play him for 35
games and he is still solid. Scott is more than good to play FA cup and league
games.
Pogba and the new MF can easily play all the league games and CL with a
CDM like Matic, while the other 3 can rotate for places in smaller games.
There is no chance we get CB, RB 2 CM and 1 RW this summer.
Our best chance is one RB, one CB and one CM and maybe if we are lucky a
RW.
I’m quite sure we will get 2 defenders, but the others I just hope we get
someone

We have to be looking past Matic already. Seems like the kind of player
who will decline very suddenly, as he has shown, so we need a decent
replacement in already.
Also let's not assume Pogba will stay. The guy is in his prime and if
we're not in the CL next season AND one of Real/PSG come knocking,

Have you seen Matic this season? He’s so slow in moving the ball
around and it’s clear he’s on the decline. He should not be our first
choice CDM.
Scott is average. He scored a goal and he puts in the work rate and he
plays for the badge and suddenly everyone thinks he’s good enough to
start for us. He’s very limited and lacks the creativity. I would be okay
with him being a bench option but I would rather him go on loan to
another club where he would get more game time and could develop
more and have his spot taken by Fred or Matic.
It’s not the 90s where we could afford to have 5 good midfielders in
one team.
I’m not saying we need 5 world class midfielders. We need midfielders
who are better than the ones we have now because they aren’t good
enough. Pogba, a new CM, a new CDM, Fred and Matic are good enough
for me next season. And let’s not forget, Pogba might still leave.
There is no chance we get CB, RB 2 CM and 1 RW this summer.
It will be hard but that’s what we need if we want to even be in top 4
next season. The players we have now are just not good enough.

I’m not calling him average because he plays simple passes
but because he has very little in his locker. He has good
work rate, he has the physicality, he can tackle. That’s it.
Playing simple is great and all, but right now we need
another creative midfielder alongside Pogba so that we don’t
rely on Pogba as our only attacking outlet. We need
someone who can move the ball forward, is not afraid to
dribble past players and can pass forward better. Scott can’t
do that.
He has the physical qualities and the passion and the
technique, all he needs is to improve the intelligence.
People need to stop looking at “passion” as one of the
qualities to play for Man United. We need quality. You can
put me in a Man United shirt and stick me in that team and I
will give you passion for about 20 minutes, because then I
will be subbed off and booed off the pitch because I’m shite.
And you say he has technique? Sorry, I’ve seen him play but
he has very little of that.
I agree with you on intelligence as that comes with more
experience.

McTominay is a striker turned advanced midfielder,
and he's been playing in a holding role all season. He
hasn't been playing in a position or role that allows
him to move the ball forward much all season, and the
few times he has he's done well. Play him in the right
role with the right structure around him and he'll
improve creatively. Play him the wrong way and he'll

stagnate/go nowhere.

We are all basing our opinions on players by how

we see them actually play on the pitch, not
because of what previous managers has said of
what could be of said player.
It’s pretty obvious no one here knows more than
SAF or Mou, so I don’t know why you even need
to claim that.
And of course our own managers managing our
club will talk good about an academy product.
They are not going to go “Yeah, he’s pretty
average and I don’t see him having a future
here”, are they?

Turned 26 a month ago. He's a phenomenal player to be honest. And he can play in the
middle and on the wing.
Ive seen a lot of Eredevisie fans saying last 2-3 years hes been head and shoulders the best in
the league. Ive only seen a few eredevisie games so i wouldnt know personally tho.

Agree with all your choices, but your list is unfinished.

Circumstances have changed a lot within the last couple months. We are hearing reports that
many players will be leaving, so we have to bring in more replenishment. Also, even if no one
leaves, we still need two mids (at least.) 1 CM & 1 DM. If we lose more than one midfielder,
then we'll need a third. Then there is also a ST. Lukaku is poised to leave, but we need one
anyway, since we have a terrible goal tally. Also, a LB should be considered b/c Young is past
it, and 2 true FBs are leaving. So what happens if Shaw gets injured?

Hypothetically, if we are going to still play with two forwards uptop and the rumors of Lukaku
wanting to leave are to believed. Do we really need a RW still?
ST - Icardi (Swap/+Cash for Lukaku)

RW - Sancho/Lozano (Depending on the system? unless we force them to play RCM or CAM)
CM - Bruno Fernandes/Neves (Have no clue if Fernandes would work as a RCM/box-box in a
midfield three rather than a CAM/CF to spear the diamond if we didn't have a flexible winger
on the right)
CDM - Declan Rice (Partey/Rodri committed future to Atleti)
CB - Toby Alderwireld/Koulibaly/Manolas (Toby would be the obvious bargain choice but if we
wanted to invest in a world class CB that is a little younger, then Koulibaly would be it)
GK - Jan Oblak/La font/Donnaruma

like Bissaka, although I like more attack minded/capable full backs.

OP, you're missing a ST and LB.

CF is needed whether Lukaku leaves or not. We're woeful in front of goal.
LB is also a must b/c Shaw & Dalot will be our only real FBs next season. Darmian & Valencia are
leaving, and we only have makeshifts to rotate if either of those two get injured.
P.s. You put CM twice. I think you meant DM next to Partey.

Partey and Ziyech looks like no brainer to me at those prices in situation we are in. Although CL
football will be a problem for both of them I guess and both will have options. They are bot young
enough so they can give us 5-6 years at top level I guess.
Alderweireld is also good option, but at his age he is short term fix. I am not sure if he is a solution,
but I am not sure what are available options beside him. If we can go for some top defender like De
Ligt, Koulibaly or Varane, I would maybe miss him and opt for new CB/Lindelof partnership, ans
with Smalling, Bailly, Jones, Tuanzebe as backup (one of Smalling/Jones can be sold in that case)
Bissaka would be nice, not sure about price tag in his case. Also, not sure about playing time Dalot
and maybe Laird (looks like a gem at the moment) in the future will have if we have three kids
fighting for one spot. On the other hand he looks like a beast long term.
I guess Rice from West Ham is also on the radar.

Zaha over Ziyech imo if we can't get Sancho.

With Herrera seemingly leaving...Partey could be a good chouce albeit different stylistically. Might
still provide that space for pogba to operate. Think Meunier might be better if we want to let Dalot
grow. Wan Bissaka could be great if Dalot converts to RW i guess.
