Belle Winsor Case Study Reflection

Working with my partner on the lesson plan seemed to go smoothly. I feel like we

equally came up with ideas and activities that worked with our case study. At times I felt that I

did a little bit more than Bailey, but she helped out when I needed her to. The brain storming

went well because it was easy to figure out the basic outline of our lesson, but coming up with

activities was hard. I think that cheating is a hard subject for activities, but Bailey said that we

should role play and I thought that was a great idea. I decided that we should also have some

scenarios written out on google slides so that the class could find solutions to the different cases.

I am the one that made the google slides and put most of that together like the scenarios and the

summary. After I had done that Bailey added the pictures of ways to cheat and the youtube

videos that promote cheating which was great because that is what younger children are being

exposed to through technology.

The process takes a lot more thought than I had expected because of all the details. First

you think of the message you have to convey then you have to find ways to do so. Bailey was

better with the activities than I was, so it was nice having her there to help me out. After we

came up with the ideas for the activities you have to create it and that is time consuming. Of

course I knew that teachers put a lot of time and energy into teaching us the material, but now I

have an idea of how much time is needed to put everything together at home or at school before

class begins.

I thought that the time limit would be difficult, but we allowed time for discussion and

the lesson went better than expected. I was also nervous that my peers would be bored or not

care about what I was saying, but they were engaged and participated willingly which I
appreciated. It is always a little nerve wracking when I have to present but being with Bailey

helped out too.

If I were to teach this lesson again I would try to be less repetitive. Some of the scenarios

in the slide show were also acted out through role play and I think it was too much. Maybe we

could have stuck to one idea and really expanded and discussed it. Or maybe made sure that

there was more differentiation between the activities. There should have been more discussion

about the grade levels and how the different age groups could be disciplined differently. We also

could have talked about what causes students to cheat and the pressure of grades because that is

just as important if not more important.

I loved all the discussions, so as a future teacher I want to incorporate that into my

lessons. Role play is also really fun and we have done it a lot in this class, but before this I had

never done it. I will include this sometimes too because it is fun and gets the class excited and

laughing. Having fun should be a big part of school to keep people engaged and learning.
