1) Explain in brief the collective bargaining procedures in an enterprise with which

you are familiar (Explain comprehensively in detail).
Answer:
Collective bargaining is a process of negotiation between employers and a group of employees
aimed at agreements to regulate working salaries, working conditions, benefits, and other
aspects of workers' compensation and rights for workers. The interests of the employees are
commonly presented by representatives of a trade union to which the employees belong. The
collective agreements reached by these negotiations usually set out wage scales, working hours,
training, health and safety, overtime, grievance mechanisms, and rights to participate in
workplace or company affairs
It is collective in two ways. One is that all the workers collectively bargain for their common
interests and benefits. Second is that workers and management jointly arrive at an amicable
solution through negotiation. Collective bargaining procedure start after charter of demands
which is submitted to the management by the union. if there is an agreement exist in
organization then it remains in the operation till the date of expiry of the agreement or the date
on which fresh agreement is signed latter. So the involvement of parties may be like:
1. One company and one union
2. One company and more than one union
3. More than one companies and one union
4. More than one companies and more than one union
If a company is involved with single union the collective bargaining become a process or
procedure and it is easy but in some cases it becomes complicated. It has three phases.
 Pre-negotiation Phase

 Negotiation Phase
 Post negotiation Phase

1. Pre- negotiation phase:

This is the stage before starting collective bargaining. At this stage, the management wants to
estimate the power and capacity of labor unions. At this stage, all the relevant data, information
and figures are collected so that the stage may be prepared for negotiation. It has some steps:
i- Determination of negotiation
It includes the following steps
a- Select the representative union through secret ballot
b- Select union through verification of membership by government agency
c- Bargain with united forum of unions constituted with representatives of all unions in
proportion to their verified membership, for the purpose of negotiation in bargaining
ii- Ascertaining the bargaining strength:
It is very important for both parties to ascertain its strength to carry on bargaining with its
desire objectives and also strength of other party that may create obstacles to the success of
bargaining.
iii- Preparation for negotiation:
Before start of negotiation both union and management prepare themselves to success the
bargaining successful. So different parties do work for grips. and also sustain facts each party
prepares its arguments with necessary data for compel to agree.
iv- Planning for strategy and tactics:
Bargaining process involve strategic activities that are pre-requisites for effective bargaining.
Strategy is concerned with mapping out the plan and basic policies to be followed I the
bargaining process. So, it is decided to take overall plan to proceed at the bargaining table to
achieve its objective and for such purpose some strategies are taken.
2. Negotiation Phase
Negotiation phase is essentially a process of advancing proposals, discussing and criticizing
them, explaining and exploring their meaning and effects, seeking to secure their acceptance,
or making counter proposals or modifications for similar evaluation.

The last step of collective bargaining is the post negotiation phase. After negotiation process
is completed it needs to prepare agreements to ratify and approve it and implement it. So,
this post-negotiation phase consists of three phases/stages. Steps are:

1) “Discipline is an orderly behavior.” How will you justify this?

Answer: Discipline refers to systematic instruction given to a disciple. To discipline thus means to

instruct a person to follow a particular code of conduct “order”. The word “Discipline” comes from
the word “Disciple” meaning a learner. Discipline means tearing to obey certain rules. Without it,
there will be complete chaos and disorder everywhere in our society.

Discipline is of great importance in every walks of our life. Without it, we cannot prosper in this
world. There cannot be any peace or happiness in the family, if there is no discipline. All the
members must obey the head of the family. So we must first learn the lesson of discipline at home.
We must obey the orders of our superiors. In our childhood, we do not know what is good for us.
If we do as we like, then we shall be ruined. An army cannot win a battle if the soldiers do not obey
the orders of the commander.

Examples and importance of disciplines in several fields of life:

Discipline is very important in the battle field. If there is no discipline among the soldiers, they
cannot win any battle. They do great harm to the country. The country becomes weak. A disciplined
army is great source strength to the country.

Every student should practice discipline in his school life. The teachers cannot properly teach in the
class if the students are not disciplined. Just think of a school, where the students come at irregular
hours, go home when it suits their sweet will. Little education can be imparted in such a school and
such little education will not be of any use. Students will not be able to prepare themselves for
examination, and their results will be poor.

Discipline is also necessary in a man’s individual life. Without self-discipline a man can never shine
and succeed in life. In public life, discipline is of great value. A nation cannot rise, if the people do

not know the value of discipline. People must follow their leaders. If people go on according to their
own wishes, there, cannot be any order and no useful work can be done by them.

An organization cannot be successful if the people do not obey its laws and rules. Similarly, no play
is possible, if the players do not follow the rules in the playground. The leader must learn to rule
him. If he cannot rule himself, he cannot rule others.

It has also to be remembered that those who are not disciplined themselves cannot expect
obedience from others when they themselves are put in power. As everybody hopes to rise to
power this should teach to submit to discipline in their own lives. In the classroom discipline is
regarded as a code of conduct that both teachers and students agree upon and cooperate in its
enforcement. I insist on cooperation and agreement in classroom management. So, in the end I
would like to conclude by saying that yes it is right that “discipline is an orderly behavior”.
