Description of Template
IMPORTANT: Perform all the setup instructions in this document BEFORE importing the ClearSCADA
project.

This template demonstrates every object and method provided by ClearSCADA’s integrated Realflo
driver. Begin from the Overview mimic found in the group called Field. In run mode, select any well in
the list to see its details. Several sample gas wells have been added to this overview list. Some are
multiple run SCADAPacks and 4203s. Each demonstrates a different choice of measurement units, e.g.
US2, US8, Metric1, etc.

Select the Add Well button for instructions on adding a new well to the list. Connect a live SCADAPack or
4203 with Realflo running on it; then add a new well to the list that talks to your SP. Or, use the sample
Realflo configuration provided with this sample that connects to the first well in the FieldEast group.

By default, all the sample wells listed in the Overview mimic use the Ethernet IP Channel and Outstation
Set found in the Comms group. If using a serial connection, edit the sample serial channel and outstation
set also found in the Comms group. Then edit your well’s Outstation object to use these instead.

Optional Trio Radio Diagnostics mimic: If you intend to use a Trio J Ethernet radio, you can select the
Radio Diagnostics button from the Overview. Click a radio in the three radio sample network to see its
diagnostics. To see live radio diagnostics enter your radio’s serial number. You will also need to enable
the eDiags feature in the Access Point radio. Instructions on doing this are found at the end of this
document. If you are not using a Trio J radio you can still browse the mimic, or delete the Radio
Diagnostics button from the Overview to remove it.

ClearSCADA license and Realflo driver installation

1. Make sure you have ClearSCADA 2010 R3.1 or newer installed.

2. Obtain and install a ClearSCADA license with the RealFLO driver option. Note that this CS
project will not operate with the ClearSCADA demo license.
3. Make sure you have the SCADAPack MODBUS driver and RealFLO extension driver installed. To
check this,
a. Go to the control panel and run the Add/Remove Programs icon.
b. Find Control Microsystems ClearSCADA and select ‘Change’.
c. Select ‘Modify’ program.
d. Expand the list of Server components and scroll down to SCADAPack MODBUS driver
and the RealFLO extension driver as shown below. If these are not installed yet, select
them now to install.

Enable Reporting in Realflo Template

This ClearSCADA Configuration setting is needed to enable the Reports to generate with in the
ClearSCADA Realflo template without the need for a Crystal Reports license. (If this setting is not done as
follows, the Reports will fail when the Generate button is selected within the template.)

2
 Open Server Configuration
 Expand the folder tree to access the Global Parameters as shown below.
 Select Crystal Reports and click the Setup button as shown below.

 Select the System DSN tab, then select the Add button as shown below:

 Select the ClearSCADA Driver from the list and click Finish:

3
 The following dialog is presented. Enter the name ClearSCADA and select MAIN from System list
box as shown below. Then click OK:

 The result should look like below. Click OK to close the dialog. Then close the Server
Configuration window.

4
Import & Merge ClearSCADA Project
After completing the setup steps above, you can now Import & Merge the ClearSCADA sample project
found in this folder into the MAIN database of ClearSCADA:

 Highlight the root folder MAIN in the ClearSCADA database, then right-click and select Import &
Merge to import the SDE file. After importing, you may rename the Field group or any of its
subgroups. But do not rename the Config group or move it out of the root folder. Doing so will
break full pathname links used in the Reports mimics.
 Open the Overview mimic in the group Field to begin.

Optional: Demo using the sample Realflo Configuration

To demo this ClearSCADA project quickly you may use the sample Realflo configuration provided in the
Realflo folder of this sample project. Load a Realflo SCADAPack RTU with the sample configuration which
also sets the RTU’s IP address to 192.168.2.1. Then set your PC’s IP address to 192.168.2.100 (with
netmask 255.255.255.0). In the ClearSCADA mimic Overview, the well ID named “Ethernet Well Stn1”
should connect to your RTU.

Optional: Trio Radio Diagnostics Template

The Trio radio diagnostics driver is available in ClearSCADA 2010 R1 or newer and installs automatically
by default. If you are upgrading from an older version, you will need to install the Trio Diagnostics driver
by modifying your CS installation manually.

This sample project demonstrates this driver with Trio Ethernet J-series radios. But the same project
may be used with the full range of Trio radios: D, E, J, K and M series. The diagnostics may be polled
from the radio using a serial or UDP channel.

Diagnostics for all radios in the network may be polled for by accessing just one radio in the network.
This example uses the access point radio connected to the ClearSCADA server. ClearSCADA polls this
radio over a UDP channel for diagnostics about any radio in the network. Only this radio requires its
eDiag server to be enabled as described below:

1. For the J-Series Ethernet radio, use Internet Explorer to select the Configuration screen and
enable eDiags server circled in red below. Enter the IP address of the ClearSCADA PC which polls
this server as circled in red below. See below for Schneider Electric-branded radios.
(For other Trio radio models, use TView to enable this.)

2. Edit the channel object shown below. Enter the IP address of the radio you setup in step 1
above. This radio contains the diagnostics server that will be polled by ClearSCADA. (Note that
UDP port 1040 is the same default port number used in the configuration screen in step 1.)

6
3. Open the Diagnostics mimic for Radio 1 as shown below. From this mimic, click the Select Serial
Number button and enter the serial number of the radio you wish to poll for diagnostics. Click
the Toggle button so that Polling in ON. You may also open Channel object again and toggle the
channel’s In Service box to refresh the polling immediately instead of waiting for the next poll
cycle.

4. Repeat step 4 for Radio 2, and create more instances of TrioDiagTemplate for additional radios.
