Representation: This lesson displays a variety of ways of representation. The students are not only given the
information visually but also in auditory form. Students that have a visual impairment can listen to the video
and the students with a hearing impairment can watch the video as long as there is a transcript provided.
Each students’ background knowledge will be supplied in the introductory video that will be provided as well
as later activated when they are asked to create their own video of a life cycle based on the information they
have seen/heard.
Action and Expression: The students are given a vase number of ways to express themselves through the
creation of these videos. They are able to choose all aspects of the video in order to show an understanding
of a life cycle. The students will be able to use many different tools in order to guide them in this process,
such as laptops, tablets, library, and dictionaries. Lastly, the students will be able to communicate their
message through including their voice into the video if they would like. If they are not comfortable with it
they can look to DiscoveryEducation.com for some help.

Lesson idea implementation:
To begin the lesson, we will have a class discussion on the life cycle of amphibians. I will then ask the
students what they know about life cycles and see the different responses I get from them. After the
discussion, I will show them the video I made on the life cycle of amphibians. After the video, I will have them
create their own video of a life cycle of their choice. I will have them do their own research on different life
cycles in order for them to determine which one they would like to complete this activity on.
At the end of the week, the students will submit their final product to the teacher. Their video should be at
least two minutes and should include all research on the life cycle of their choice. The teacher will review all
videos over the weekend. On Monday, the class will be able to watch everyone's video on the different life
cycles. The students will be given access to each video to be able to go back and watch at a later time.
Importance of technology:
The Life Cycle of Amphibians played a critical part to this lesson because it is where the students got their idea
to create their own video on a life cycle of their choice. However, this project could not be completed without
iMovie as the focal point. If the students were taught this material and not shown the video on the life cycle
of amphibians, they may not have been as engaged as they should. The technology that will be needed for
this lesson will include iPads, the iMovie app, and the internet to access any resources they need to complete
their final product.
