Nursing (4-year) Degree Program

STATUTES & REGULATIONS FOR FIRST PROFESSIONAL B.SC. NURSING


EXAMINATIONS

General
Regulations

1. An examination for the degree of 4-year B.Sc. Nursing shall be held every year in affiliated
University of Health Sciences at dates fixed by the Vice Chancellor on the
recommendations of the Board of Studies.

2. A candidate who fails to pass in First Year examination, three consecutive chances availed
or un-availed after becoming eligible for First Year examination shall cease to become
eligible for further B. Sc. Nursing Degree Program.

Statutes

1. The First Professional B.Sc. Nursing Examination shall be held at the end of 1st year B.Sc.
Nursing class.

2. Every candidate shall be required to study subjects of Basic Sciences (Anatomy &
Physiology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology), Fundamental of Nursing (Nursing Ethics),
Behavioural Sciences (Psychology (Behavioral & Developmental), Sociology)

3. First Professional B.Sc. Nursing shall test every candidate in following three subjects:

i. Basic Sciences 200 Marks


§ Anatomy & Physiology
§ Biochemistry
§ Microbiology

ii. Fundamental of Nursing 200 Marks


§ Nursing Ethics

iii. Behavioral Sciences 100 Marks

i. Basic Sciences

The examination in the subject of Basic Science shall be as follows:

i. One written paper of 90 marks in Basic Sciences having two parts.

a. Part I shall have 45 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 45 marks and the
time allotted shall be one hour.

b. Part II shall have 9 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 45 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 90 marks.

iii. The continuous internal assessment shall carry 20 marks i.e. 10% of the total
allocated marks for the subject. These marks will be equally distributed to the
theory and practical examination as under:

a. Ten (10) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the
final theory examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.
b. Ten (10) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the
final practical examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.

ii. Fundamentals of Nursing


The examination in the subject of Fundamentals of Nursing shall be as follows:

i. One written paper of 90 marks in Fundamentals of Nursing having two parts.

a. Part I shall have 45 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 45 marks and the time
allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 9 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 45 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 90 marks.

iii. The continuous internal assessment shall carry 20 marks i.e. 10% of the total
allocated marks for the subject. These marks will be equally distributed to the
theory and practical examination as under:

a. Ten (10) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the final
theory examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.
b. Ten (10) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the final
practical examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.

iii. Behavioral Sciences


The examination in the subject of Behavioral Sciences shall be as follows:

i. One written paper of 45 marks in Behavioral Science having two parts.

a. Part I shall have 25 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 25 marks and the
time allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 4 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 20 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 45 marks.

iii. The continuous internal assessment shall carry 10 marks i.e. 10% of the total
allocated marks for the subject. These marks will be equally distributed to the
theory and practical examination as under:

a. Five (05) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the
final theory examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.
b. Five (05) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the
final practical examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.

4. The Marks distribution in each subject is given in Table – 1

EXAMINATIONS

General
Regulations

1. An examination for the degree of 4-year B.Sc Nursing shall be held every year in affiliated
University of Health Sciences at dates fixed by the Vice Chancellor on the
recommendations of the Board of Studies.

2. A candidate who fails to pass in Second Year examination, three consecutive chances
availed or un-availed after becoming eligible for Second Year examination shall cease to
become eligible for further B.Sc. Nursing Degree Program.

Statutes

1. The Second Professional B.Sc. Nursing Examination shall be held at the end of 2nd year
B.Sc. Nursing class.

2. Every candidate shall be required to study subjects of Health Sciences (Pathophysiology,


Pharmacology, and Mathematics), Concepts in Clinical Nursing (Health Assessment and
Adult Health), and Community Health.

3. Second Professional B.Sc. Nursing shall test every candidate in following two subjects:

i. Health Sciences 200 Marks


— Pathophysiology
— Pharmacology
— Mathematics

ii. Concepts in Clinical Nursing 100 Marks


— Health Assessment
— Adult Health

i. Health Sciences
The examination in the subject of Health Science shall be as follows:

i. One written paper of 90 marks in Health Sciences having two parts.

a. Part I shall have 45 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 45 marks and the
time allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 9 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 45 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 90 marks.

The examination in the subject of Concepts in Clinical Nursing shall be as follows:

i. One written paper of 45 marks in Concepts in Clinical Nursing having two parts.

a. Part I shall have 25 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 25 marks and the
time allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 4 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 20 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 45 marks.

iii. The continuous internal assessment shall carry 10 marks i.e. 10% of the total
allocated marks for the subject. These marks will be equally distributed to the
theory and practical examination as under:

a. Five (05) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the final
theory examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.
b. Five (05) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the final
practical examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.

STATUTES & REGULATIONS FOR THIRD PROFESSIONAL B.SC NURSING


EXAMINATIONS

General
Regulations

1. An examination for the degree of 4-year B.Sc Nursing shall be held every year in affiliated
University of Health Sciences at dates fixed by the Vice Chancellor on the
recommendations of the Board of Studies.

2. A candidate who fails to pass in Third Year examination, three consecutive chances
availed or un-availed after becoming eligible for Third Year examination shall cease to
become eligible for further B.Sc. Nursing Degree Program.

Statutes

1. The Third Professional B.Sc. Nursing Examination shall be held at the end of 3r d year
B.Sc. Nursing class.

2. Every candidate shall be required to study subjects of Research (Biostatistics, and Nursing
Research), Advanced Concepts in Critical Nursing (Advanced Adult Health (Critical Care))

3. Third Professional B.Sc. Nursing shall test every candidate in following two subjects:

i. Research 200 Marks


§ Biostatistics
§ Nursing Research

ii. Advance Concepts in Critical Nursing 100 Marks


§ Advanced Adult Health (Critical Care)

i. Research
The examination in the subject of Research shall be as follows:

i. One written paper of 90 marks in Research having two parts.

a. Part I shall have 45 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 45 marks and the
time allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 9 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 45 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 90 marks.

iii. The continuous internal assessment shall carry 20 marks i.e. 10% of the total
allocated marks for the subject. These marks will be equally distributed to the
theory and practical examination as under:

ii. Advanced Concepts in Critical Nursing


The examination in the subject of Advanced Concepts in Critical Nursing shall be as
follows:

i. One written paper of 45 marks in Advanced Concepts in Critical Nursing having two
parts.

a. Part I shall have 25 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 25 marks and the
time allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 4 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 20 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 45 marks.

iii. The continuous internal assessment shall carry 10 marks i.e. 10% of the total
allocated marks for the subject. These marks will be equally distributed to the
theory and practical examination as under:

a. Five (05) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the final
theory examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.
b. Five (05) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the final
practical examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.

EXAMINATIONS

General
Regulations

1. An examination for the degree of 4-year B.Sc Nursing shall be held every year in affiliated
University of Health Sciences at dates fixed by the Vice Chancellor on the
recommendations of the Board of Studies.

2. A candidate who fails to pass in Final Year examination, three consecutive chances availed
or un-availed after becoming eligible for Final Year examination shall cease to become
eligible for further B.Sc. Nursing Degree Program.

Statutes

1. The Final Professional B.Sc. Nursing Examination shall be held at the end of 4th year
B.Sc. Nursing class.

2. Every candidate shall be required to study subjects of Community Health (Community


Health Nursing, Applied Nutrition, and Reproductive Health), Pediatric Nursing, Nursing
Management (Leadership & Management, and Professional Development), Mental Health
Nursing, and Clinical Practicum.

3. Final Professional B. Sc. Nursing shall test every candidate in following five subjects:

i. Community Health 200 Marks


§ Community Health Nursing
§ Applied Nutrition
§ Reproductive Health

ii. Pediatric Nursing 100 Marks


iii. Nursing Management 100 Marks
§ Leadership & Management
§ Professional Development

iv. Mental Health 100 Marks


v. Clinical Practicum 100 Marks

i. Community Health
The examination in the subject of Community Health shall be as follows:

i. One written paper of 90 marks in Community Health having two parts.

a. Part I shall have 45 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 45 marks and the
time allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 9 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 45 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 4 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 20 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 45 marks.

iii. The continuous internal assessment shall carry 10 marks i.e. 10% of the total
allocated marks for the subject. These marks will be equally distributed to the
theory and practical examination as under:

a. Part I shall have 25 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 25 marks and the
time allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 4 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 20 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 45 marks.

iii. The continuous internal assessment shall carry 10 marks i.e. 10% of the total
allocated marks for the subject. These marks will be equally distributed to the
theory and practical examination as under:

a. Part I shall have 25 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 25 marks and the
time allotted shall be one hour.
b. Part II shall have 4 Short Essay Questions (SEQs) of 20 marks and the time
allotted shall be two hours.

ii. Oral and practical examination shall have 45 marks.

iii. The continuous internal assessment shall carry 10 marks i.e. 10% of the total
allocated marks for the subject. These marks will be equally distributed to the
theory and practical examination as sunder:

a. Five (05) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the
final theory examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.
b. Five (05) marks from continuous internal assessment shall be added to the
final practical examination score and the candidate shall pass in aggregate.
