Fastech started as Circuit Packaging, Inc back in 1983. It eventually became a listed company in
Singapore Stock Exchange on 1999. Today, after delisting in 2010, Fastech is now a technology
company involved in Electronics Manufacturing Technology, Metals Manufacturing Technology, and
Information Technology.
In testing
An alumni of Pamantasan ng Cabuyao, Engr. Daniel Negrillo, is one of the guest speaker with his
supervisor Engr. Jose Lito Gayagoy, give us some briefing about what semiconductor is.

Since I’m on Telecommunication Company (Smart Communications, Inc.) in my intern days, I do not
have any ideas how it works on semiconductor so it’s a bit boring at first.

Engr. Gayagoy first talk about the so called “Semiconductor Testing” which is a test equipment giving
an electrical signals to a semiconductor device to compare output signals against expected values for
the purpose of testing if the device is working as specified in the design specifications. This will also
enable the test engineers to look for some advanced techniques in testing like multiple DUT testing,
parallel testing, lopping tests, etc. in increasing the production and for the improvement of UPH.

Engr. Negrillo was the last one to speak for “Failure Analysis”. It is the process of collecting and
analyzing the data to determine the cause of a failure, and with the goal of determining the corrective
actions or liability. He emphasize the good definition of a failure, it is that the “inability of a component,
machine, or process to function properly”. Failure comes in all types of components (shape & sizes).
They can be individual parts, entire machine, or a process itself. Physical, Human, Latent, or root can
be the specific level of failure. It is important to know about the requirements of failure. The simplest
form of failure is a system or component that operates but does not perform its usual functions. This is
known as loss of service.

At last, Engr. Gayagoy reminding us that

academic grades just 30% you need to have a
successful life. The remaining percentage is
all about GRIT. It is about the mental
toughness, passion, perseverance, hard work
and attitude towards your goal.

Packetworx is the leading provider of the first network architecture for the Internet of Things or simply
IoT and the only IoT technology social enterprise in the Philippines.

Their network provides a full site of easy-to-use solutions from software to hardware for enabling fast
and easy adoption of IoT.

They worked partnership with local government units and institution in building an IoT community to
provide the next generation of innovators for the operation of the IoT. Their mission is also to accelerate
the adoption of IoT in this country, Philippines, for the transition towards an Internet-powered future.

Ms. Helga Ysaac-Orbon, before the actual tour, discussed what is IoT. It refers to the concept of
extending the internet connectivity over conventional computing platforms such as personal computer,
mobile devices, and into any traditional
“dumb” or non-internet-enabled physical
devices and other objects. She also said that
the IoT was likely coined by Kevin Ashton of
Procter & Gamble, though he prefer the
phrase “Internet for things” over Internet of
things. He viewed RFID as an essential
component for IoT, which would allow
computers to manage things.

Philippines, as been discussed by Ms. Orbon,

has the ppower to be an IoT based country
throughout the future innovations and
innovators. It was a great pleasure visiting
their place as it will be a help for us engineer
to bulid an innovations of our country’s sake and for the convenience the IoT will provide for the people.
