ABOUT AMWAY

Why haven’t I heard of Amway products?

Since Amway products are sold exclusively through Amway Business Owners or on our
website, you won’t see them on store shelves or available through other online retailers.

Additionally, Amway doesn’t do a lot of advertising. We invest more in R&D, our supply chain
and supporting our Amway Business Owners than we do in promoting our products through
traditional or online advertising. If you hear about our brands and products, it’s usually through
an Amway Business Owner or a friend who uses and likes our products.

As the number one direct selling company in the world, we know our high quality products
continue to satisfy our customers and our business model continues to be proven successful.

Given the role of the Internet in retail sales, do you worry direct selling is no longer relevant?

Actually, we think Amway and direct selling are more relevant than ever.

Now more than ever, people look to their peers for recommendations on what to buy. Amway
is a person-to-person business. The internet and global social media allow people greater
opportunity to talk about products they know to people they know. Also Amway makes it easy
to buy our products online. People are increasingly looking to make a little extra money
through non-traditional business models like Uber, Etsy, and Postmates—which are all similar
to how people make money in direct selling, including Amway.
2. PRODUCTS

Why are Amway products expensive?

Because they are made to a higher standard. Product quality, superior ingredients, design
excellence and rigorous testing ensure our products are pure, safe, effective, and durable,
which can sometimes result in a higher price than our competitor’s products.

All Amway products come with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.

Amway develops many of its products with natural ingredients grown and harvested on its own
6,400+ acres of organic farmland around the world – using sustainable, chemical free methods.

Agency’s Safer Choice program

satisfied. We want you to be happy with your purchase.
3. UNDERSTANDING DIRECT SELLING

Why do I have to buy Amway products through a Distributor?

Yes, our products are only sold through distributors. The Amway direct selling business
model is built on the personal service and thoughtful product recommendations you get from
an Amway Business Owner who knows the products and their benefits.

Amway Business Owners make themselves available to answer questions, help you understand
how to use the products and what their benefits are, and help you with returns and refunds if
you’re not satisfied. It’s in their best interests to make sure you get great service before and
after a purchase.

What is direct selling?

Direct selling, also known as person-to-person retail is a business model where people sell
products directly to other people to earn extra income.

Direct selling offers accessible entrepreneurship to anyone, where you can start a business with
little startup costs and no experience required. In direct selling, distributors earn income by
selling exclusive products to customer networks, either in-person or online. Entrepreneurs can
also recruit others to join their sales team to sell more products and increase their income
potential.

In 2016, 107 million people around the world were involved with direct selling, driving more
than US $182.6 billion in direct retail sales. Based on 2016 revenues, Amway, Avon, Herbalife,
Vorwerk and Mary Kay are the top five global direct selling companies.

Does Amway require me to spend money on training and events?

No—in fact, Amway provides millions of FREE training sessions to Amway Business Owners
such as live presentations, online webinars, podcasts, or classes through our own Learning
Management System.

Amway Business Owners often get a lot personal one-on-one coaching from the very people
who introduced them to the business opportunity or people on their team. The Amway
Business Model rewards people who invest in training and development of their team
members and help them run successful Amway businesses.

But Amway also invests heavily in business owner training and tools to help business owners be
successful. Amway globally conducts more than three million free training sessions every year,
which can help individuals gain the knowledge they need and access to the goals. Some Amway
Business Owners or authorized third parties in Amway markets may also offer motivational or
training materials to other business owners for a fee. However, such materials are always
optional and are subject to generous return policies that Amway requires such Amway Business
Owners and authorized third parties to provide.

Why doesn’t Amway sell in stores?

We don’t sell our products in retail stores because the Amway direct selling business model is
built on the personal customer service and thoughtful product recommendations from an
Amway Business Owner who knows the products and their benefits.

That’s what sets direct selling apart from traditional brick-and-mortar and online retail. It’s a
face to face business and we believe our business owners do a great job of taking care of their
customers because they have a vested interest in doing keeping them happy and developing a
repeat customer base.

But, to be clear, Amway has a robust online ordering system that many customers use for
product purchases and reorders, so you can continue to purchase Amway products online and
interact with an Amway Business Owner as much or as little as you’d like.

Do I have to stock inventory to sell Amway products?

No, Amway Business Owners don’t need to stock inventory of Amway products and there are
no purchase requirements with Amway — ever.

Amway Business Owners do not need to purchase products or stock inventory before they
begin selling them to others because products can be directly shipped to Amway Business
Owners or their customers when purchased.

However, some Amway Business Owners choose to keep their own inventory for a variety of
reasons, such as showing or demonstrating products to customer’s in-person, using products
for events, or just because they like to quickly provide them to customers upon purchase
without the need for shipping.

Amway provides a business model that requires no inventory to be held, but sometimes it is
practical to have some on hand. However, it is 100% up to the business owner to decide what
is best to meet their customers’ needs.
4. MAKING MONEY
How do you make money with Amway?
How do you make money with Amway?

Amway Business Owners (ABOs) make money when their customers buy Amway products
and by building a business where others in your organization sell products.
Primarily, money can be made by:

 Selling products with a retail mark-up and pocketing the margin.

 Earning personal sales bonuses based on the volume of products sold.
 Growth incentives and bonuses for building a network of others, who also sell products.

Retail Mark-up – ABOs are able to sell their products at a mark-up (the difference between cost
and retail price) to earn retail margin on the sale. ABOs can set their own prices, but Amway
does establish a suggested retail price for every product we sell.

Bonuses – ABOs can receive monthly bonuses based on their personal sales volume – how
many products and what types of products they sell.

Growth Incentives – As their business grows and new members join their group, ABOs receive
monthly bonuses based on the product sales volume of their team. ABOs are awarded growth
incentives for reaching key business building milestones, such as one-time cash awards and
business trips.

Obviously, the monthly compensation earned by ABOs varies widely, and is largely dependent
on what their goals are and how much time and effort they consistently put into the
business. Amway believes strongly in rewarding success, and we’ve paid out over $58 Billion in
income and bonuses to ABOs since 1959.

However, to be clear, Amway has a robust online ordering system that many customers use for
product purchases and reorders. You can purchase Amway products online and interact with an
Amway Business Owner as much or as little as you’d like.

What can an Amway Business Owner do if they want to quit the business?

An Amway Business Owner may leave the business at any time and for any reason.

In addition to a generous refund policy for product, an Amway Business Owner may request a
refund of their start-up costs, if they’re within the grace period for their country.
If the Amway business is not right for me at this time, can I get my registration fee back?

Yes. If a person wants to leave the Amway business for any reason within the first 90 days, a
generous refund policy for the registration fee is available.

However, the refund policy varies by market. As an example, the North American market offers
a 100 percent refund of the registration costs within the first 90 days of signing up as a business
owner. Other markets may differ slightly.

To find all the details on our refund policies and other information about being an Amway
Business Owner in your location, please visit our Global Business Resources page and select a
your market (or any market) to find out more.

Being an Amway Business Owner is not for everyone and we want people to feel comfortable
with their commitment to running their own business. Our registration fees are used to cover
expenses Amway incurs to onboard and support an ABO. We understand that after signing up,
some people’s personal situation changes or they just decide not to go forward, so we decided
to offer refunds on paid registration fees so we can part as friends.

Can you make money with Amway?

Yes, people around the world earn additional income through their Amway business. In fact,
Amway has paid more than $58 billion in bonuses and incentives to its distributors (Amway
Business Owners) since the company’s founding in 1959.

As with any sales business, the income you earn is based on successful efforts resulting in
product sales. The amount of time put into the Amway business varies greatly from person to
person, so the income varies as well.

The question for most people is what kind of income am I looking for? Not just in terms of
income level, but also immediate income vs. long term sustainability. For most people, Amway
is usually a part-time “side gig”, but not something like Uber or Air BnB. While Uber can be an
immediate payoff (pickup – drive – get paid), Amway is a business where someone can earn
income, more predictably, over time. If an Amway Business Owner is successful in developing a
team that collectively sells more products, they receive compensation for doing so and the
business can become stronger and a more reliable source of income.

Amway does not position itself as being a primary income source for most people. The majority
of Amway Business Owners run their businesses part-time to make a little extra money to
support themselves and their families, or to reach a specific financial goal. If their business
grows and they develop experience, they may choose to put more time into Amway and
consider making it their full-time job and primary source of income.

Do you have to recruit other people to make money with Amway?

No. Amway Business Owners make money from the sale of our products – never from
recruiting.

On each product sold, we set aside a portion of the product cost as “bonus” (sales commission).
This is shared by Amway Business Owners who work together in sales groups according to their
contract with Amway. If no product is sold, nobody makes any money. But any sales leader
would tell you that to build a big sales business, you want as many points of sale as you can
manage and support.

Like any sales organization, the more people selling, generally, the more volume you can drive.
This is why big retailers are always trying to set up new stores. The more points of sale, the
more customers you can reach.

Can you make a living doing Amway full time?

Yes. For thousands of people around the world, Amway is their sole source of income and
they have built quality lives for themselves and their families. As with any successful business
person, they will have invested years of hard work and experience before Amway could be their
primary source of income.

The reality is that most people are not looking for Amway to be their primary source of income,
and Amway does not position itself as being a primary income source for most people. The
majority of Amway Business Owners run their businesses part time to make a little extra money
or to reach a specific financial goal. Sometimes, as their business grows and they develop
experience, they may choose to put more time into Amway and consider making it their full-
time job and primary source of income.

How long does it take to make money with Amway?

There’s no magic formula to making money in an Amway business. If there were, everyone
would do it. Every person is different, and how they approach being in business is different
as well. Everyone has unique motivations, available time, and levels of effort.

With Amway, you decide what your goals are and how much time you want to put into the
business. Compensation and bonuses are based on your performance in selling our products.
Most people join Amway to supplement their primary income source, and they start making
extra money as soon as they sell products.

Others have bigger goals and long-term visions with Amway. The higher your income goal, the
more time and effort it takes to reach the goal.

Some Amway Business Owners put in enough time and effort to begin earning enough income
to go full time with their Amway business.

While earning extra income is nice, it’s not the only reason people join Amway. Many people
around the world join Amway to develop new skills that owning your own business allows, such
as sales, financial management, leadership, communication or public speaking.

But how do you gain those skills needed to be successful? Most new business owners are
helped enormously by the people who sponsor them into the business because they are
incentivized to help you become successful. But Amway also provides dozens of FREE
TRAINING opportunities, through online webinars, classes, and materials.

Everyone at Amway wants our business owners to succeed. It’s the only way we can continue
our own success!
5. RUMORS

Does Amway have real customers?

While Amway products are purchased and sold through our distributors (Amway Business
Owners), there is also a strong, active customer base of people, who are not distributors,
that buy our products because they love them.

The numbers speak for themselves:

 You can find Amway products in 71 million households in our top ten markets alone
 1 out of 5 homes in the U.S. owns an Amway product
 63% of households in Beijing, China, own at least one Amway product
 58% of households in South Korea own at least one Amway product

It’s true that many Amway Business Owners also use our products – in fact, we give them a
discount on them when they do. If you really loved the products you built your business
around, wouldn’t you want to use them and save money on your purchases?

Why do some Amway Business Owners not use the Amway name?

Our business model affords Amway Business Owners a lot of flexibility in how they operate
their independent businesses, including how they market themselves.

Many Amway Business Owners have developed and proudly promoted their own personalized
business brands. However, every Amway Business Owner is contractually obligated to be
explicitly clear about how their business is connected to Amway.

Why do some people post negative stuff about Amway online?

We’re one of the oldest and most recognizable businesses in our industry.

As a result, we’ve attracted a great deal of attention through the years – good and bad. While
most Amway Business Owners have a positive experience with Amway, owning your own
business may not be right for everyone.

Like with any business, the higher your income goal, the more effort it takes. While for some
people this is motivating, others may not have what it takes. However, if anyone is ever
dissatisfied, Amway is so confident in its business and products that they provide a Satisfaction
Guarantee on its products and business registration fee. If you’re not satisfied, you can get your
money back.
Is Amway a scam?

No, Amway is not a scam. We’re a direct selling business making and selling products
through independent “Amway Business Owners” since 1959. Here are 12 facts to set the
record straight:

1. Amway is a business that takes effort and time to get going. It’s not a “get rich quick
scheme”.
2. Most Amway Business Owners work on their business part time, but some are able with
dedication over time, to develop it into a full time income.
3. Amway is not for everyone, and we’re ok with that.
4. Amway Business Owners only earn income when they sell products, not by recruiting a
bunch of people, who then recruit others, and sell nothing. Now THAT’S a scam.
5. Amway has paid out over $58 Billion (US), and growing, since opening in 1959.
6. Amway is now the #1 direct selling company in the world with 2017 sales over $8.8
Billion (US).
7. If you started an Amway business, how much money you make depends on your effort.
8. We offer over 3 million FREE training sessions to our business owners every year. If they
succeed, then we succeed.
9. There are no territory restrictions on where you can sell products, so long as Amway
operates in that country/market. Did we mention we’re in over 100 countries and
territories?
10. There are no quotas or purchase requirements, but make no mistake: to make money,
products must be sold.
11. We offer a 90 day refund on our registration fee (less than $100 US) for any
reason. Incidentally, sponsoring Amway Business Owners receive no part of the
registration fee.
12. We offer a 180 day (6 months!) satisfaction guarantee on Amway products.

We are a company dedicated to helping people live better lives through our products and our
business opportunity. Because our business model is often misunderstood and our products
are not found in stores like retail businesses, this can sometimes lead to false claims about us.

We won’t pretend to be perfect. However, we are committed to working hard to ensure that
everyone connected with Amway has a positive experience.

Can you quit Amway?

You are never obligated to stay with Amway after you join. You can leave whenever you’d
like. With a 100% satisfaction guarantee, you can quit Amway without losing any money.

Our business isn’t for everyone – and that’s perfectly fine. There are many reasons why people
decide to do something else with their time. Amway takes a lot of hard work and some Amway
Business Owners quit because they find it’s just not a good fit for them. Others quit because
they’ve reached a financial goal – like making a little extra money to pay for a vacation – and no
longer need additional income. Because Amway has a low-cost or no-cost of entry (depending
on your market) and a guaranteed refund on the initial start-up costs, people can quit Amway
without losing any money.

Our goal is for everyone to enjoy their experience for as long as they decide to be Amway
Business Owners. And the reality is that most people who register with Amway stay for a while
– for example, 60% of our Amway Business Owners in North America renew every year.

Do people in Amway focus more on recruiting than selling products?

Selling products is the most important part of the Amway business, not recruiting. Amway
Business Owners cannot make money unless products are sold.

An Amway Business Owner could recruit a million people and if none of them generated
product sales, nobody would make any money. Amway Business Owners must sell products and
people on their sales teams must also be selling products in order to earn income.

Any sales leader would tell you that to build a larger sales business, you want as many points of
sale as you can manage and support. Each Amway Business Owners is a “point of sale” in that
sense.

Like any sales organization, the more people selling products, generally the more volume you
can drive. This is why retailers set up new stores. The more points of sale, the more customers
you can reach.

Because we have such high quality products, successful Amway Business Owners work regularly
with customers who are repeat buyers. Often people who use the products decide to sell the
products too. They can also develop productive sales teams, through recruiting, that will
generate more product sales for their network.

But again, no money is made unless the business owners sell products!

Do people at the top of Amway make all the money?

No, this is a common misperception in direct selling and Amway, in particular. It is incorrect
that only the people who started in Amway earlier or who are “at the top” of the business
make all of the money.

It’s very possible for an individual Amway Business Owner to make more money than the
person who introduced them to the business, even if that person has been with Amway for a
decade or more. There’s no benefit for those who “joined Amway early.”
Some Amway Business Owners make much more money than others, but it’s because they are
responsible for not only selling products themselves, but also for organizing, supporting, and
leading larger sales groups of Amway Business Owners that sell significant amounts of products.
At this stage, they are experienced and skilled business leaders working diligently in their
business.

Is Amway a cult?

No, Amway is definitely NOT a cult. We are a direct selling business making and selling
products through independent Amway Business Owners (ABOs) since 1959. However, part of
our company growth has been building a culture of recognizing ABO success.

But there’s a big difference between “cult” and “culture”.

A core value of our business culture is to recognize and reward success. Over the years, we
have had tens of thousands of meetings around the world, big and small, where we bring
people together to learn, train, and motivate each other. As our business owners work hard to
see their sales grow, we should make a big deal out of it!

Some may feel this kind of celebration isn’t “business like”, but we have done this since our
founding in 1959. We do it to encourage, inspire, reward, and celebrate the success of the
Amway sales team; the Amway Business Owners.

That’s part of our culture that will never change. It’s one way Amway is different, and one
reason we are the #1 direct sales company in the world.

 Amway has over 22,000 employees worldwide

 There are over 700 physical Amway business locations across the globe
 We do business in 100 countries & territories
 Over 4 Million Amway Business Owners represent and sell Amway products

Is Amway a pyramid scheme?

No, Amway is not a pyramid scheme. Unfortunately, a lack of understanding and

misperceptions, especially on social media, can incorrectly put this label on direct selling or
multi-level marketing companies, like Amway.

Amway is a consumer products company that has been around since 1959 – more than half a
century – and operates in more than 100 countries and territories with proud supporters
around the world. Amway’s global sales in 2017 were $8.8 billion USD, making it the world’s
largest direct selling company.

Pyramid schemes have nothing to do with real commercial activity or product sales. Pyramid
schemes are a form of financial fraud based on recruiting new people to make investments into
a business, and then using those investments to pay the people who joined earlier. In Amway,
distributors (Amway Business Owners) make money from the sale of our products – not from
recruiting others to join.

In fact, it’s possible for an individual Amway Business Owner to make more money than the
person who introduced them to the business, even if that person has been with Amway for a
decade or more. There’s no benefit for those who joined Amway first

So, it is not true that the people who started in Amway earlier or who are “at the top” of the
business make all of the money,
