Interview 1- Mandi Express

Q1. What is your ideal recruitment process? How does the recruitment process support the company's
business goals?

Mandi Express is a company of about 25 employees. Mainly, the HR manager recruits workers for the
company under close supervision of CEO. The company often has a high worker turnover because
mainly riders are looking for a job for a few months until they leave for village or find another well-
paying job.

To curb this problem, MX has kept a referral system which works well for the company; it means, before
resigning from the job a rider has to refer another rider to the company.

On the office side, the employee distribution is fairly equal. The process is interview and hiring for all
nature of jobs.

Q2 Describe your hiring approach. How and where do you find talented job applicants?

Mandi Express has a very young team. The main talent comes from universities and other startups;
candidate applies for a job at Mandi Express through university portals and shortlisted candidates get
invited for the interview.

On the other hand, the delivery and riding staff is recruited differently. Any new hiring is done through
referrals of the past rider/delivery boy. A test order is asked to deliver in one of our vehicles and they
are monitored to asses their timeliness, behavior and other traffic rules and regulations.

Q3 How do you define company culture? What would you do to help maintain it as the company grows?

The company yet has no formal defined culture; the best way to describe it is that it has two way
communications from its grass roots. As the company grows, we are more moving towards giving
decision making power to most of our employees. Even the riders can choose which root to take in
order to cut time and reach maximum clients.

Q4 In your personal experience, what are the benefits that drive the highest employee satisfaction and
engagement?

Engaging and involving the employees has perks like higher employee satisfaction and work efficiency.
Employees, if motivated, take out their time to involve in work and projects they aren’t initially a part of;
empowering employees gives them a sense of belonging to the company and a close attachment.

Q5 What KSAs (knowledge, skills and abilities) are relevant to the industry?
Different job and department requires different skillset and knowledge. However, some soft skills are
always expected from the employees.
