= Holiday Fortune Teller =

There are many holidays this time of year! Christmas,

Hanukah, Kwanzaa, Diwali, Chinese New Year, and Korean New
Year are just a few!

Use this activity as an opportunity for students to teach

each other about the different holidays they celebrate. If you
teach a more homogenous class, it's an opportunity for
students to research winter holidays and teach each other
about them!

One Classroom Option-

~ Play music and have students walk around the room. When the
music is stopped, students partner up with the closest person to them.

~ Students share their holidays with each other. The first student to
share about his/her holiday, asks the second student for a number. The
student holding the fortune teller, manipulates the fortune teller by
switching positions with his/her fingers the given number of times. The
holder then shows the second student the topics on the inside. The second
student picks one. The holder lifts the flap and tells about that topic.

~ The second student takes a turn sharing about his/her holiday with
his/her fortune teller.

~ Students alternate until the music starts again.
