1. INTRODUCTION

This method statement for Demolition of Retaining Wall and Extraction of Installed RC Piles is
presented for the Ahlone Port Project. This outlines shows the construction method and procedure and
provides specific instruction in quality, safety and environmental controls associated with the work.

2. REFERENCE

All materials, workmanship and testing shall conform to the approved construction drawings and
specifications and safety standard.

3. Method and Preparation

3. 1. General Information

Demolition of retaining wall and pile extraction work shall be conducted by following machines.

1. 50 Ton Crawler Crane 1 Nos
2. 20 Ton Excavator 1 Nos
3. 20 Ton Excavator with Breaker 1 Nos
4. 5 Ton Vibro Hammer 1 Nos

Before excavation for Demolition of R‐wall temporary sheet pile wall will be install to maintain
the soil stability

3.2. Mobilization
‐ Long trailers shall be used to transport equipment and accessories to project site.



3.3. Sequences for demolition of R‐Wall and Extraction of Piles

3.3.1 Temporary Sheet Pile Installation

We will divide the existing R‐Wall two parts as Portion 1 & 2 as shown in below fig.

Sheet piles (Type‐III‐A, 12m Lengths) will be installed for portion‐1 at 3m away from
existing retaining wall at river side to prevent the soil collapse when excavation of
existing wall and demolition process.

3.3.2 Excavation and Demolition of R‐wall

Excavation will be done at both side of the R‐Wall up to ‐8 Ft Level for first step
demolition as
shown in below figure.

Upper part of the R‐Wall will be demolished with excavator mounted breaker and
excavation will continue to bottom level of the R‐Wall.



Bottom R‐Wall and Slab will be demolished with excavator mounted breaker and disposal
the debris out of the side.

3.3.3 Extraction of Piles
Installed piles below R‐wall slab will be extracted by vibro‐hammer which will be
attached at
50 ton crawler crane. (Assuming pile size is 8”x8” / 10”x10” / 12”x12” and penetration
not more than 6m). If the pile is more than 6m and can’t extract, confirm with engineers
and terminate the extraction work.

3.4. Backfill after pile extraction

After extraction of piles excavated area will be backfill with excavated soil and compact to get
working space for extraction of temporary sheet piles.

3.5. Extraction of sheet pile from portion‐1

All the temporary sheet piles from portion ‐1 will be extracted and installed at portion‐2 same as
portion‐1 to continue the demolition and extraction of piles at portion‐2.





3.6. Portion‐2 Demolition and Extraction of Piles

For portion‐2 of R‐Wall demolition and pile extraction all the above steps for portion‐1 need to be
done again for portion‐2.
