PROCEDURE TO SET ENCODER POSITION_BORL.

DOCX

Preconditions :

1) Disable encoder

Follow indicated instructions in the figure 1

2) Modify in SSDTERM VFD (COM3) the parameter

LIVE Max from 380 to 200

3) Change by SW Step7 (in offline) the following lines (FC103 seg 94-95-96),
(figure 2 to 4) and update the plc program (download the new block FC103).

Modified conditions : For all lines put the contact M0.2 (always off) as it shown, (figure 5 to 7) :

4) Connect the oscilloscope with the following channels : (See also the note at the end of this
document)

Ch1) VRT” card Q (AREV11) pin 1_06d (hot point) and 2_04d (ground)

Ch2) 1XLed” card P (AGIF21) pin 1_22z (hot point) and 2_04d (ground)

Ch3) 1YLed” card P (AGIF21) pin 1_24z (hot point) and 2_04d (ground)

Ch4) 1ZLed” card P (AGIF21) pin 1_26z (hot point) and 2_04d (ground)
5) Slightly loosen the screws that hold the encoder.

6) One person remains in front of encoder. He will receive information from substation
regarding the rotation angle to rotate encoder case.

7) One person will observe from oscilloscope the signals (motor voltage and 3 square waves of
encoder)

During operation :

a) Start the machine and wait until the machine reaches 200rpm.

b) On the oscilloscope check the correct direct cycle of 3 square waves, see figure 8.

If the sequence is inverted as shown in the figure 9, It means optical fibers connected to cards
AGIF21(P) are inverted or they are inverted in the encoder box (see page G1.J04 and G3.U02 of
electrical drawings).

c) Check the motor voltage VRT” and the first channel 1Xled.

At the beginning you will have one similar condition to the figure 10.
To stabilize the signal motor voltage, you have to use trigger operation for channel 1 (motor
voltage). You need to regulate the trigger scale until the sine wave remains stable.

The person observes the oscilloscope will send (by radio) instructions to the person near encoder to
move clockwise or anticlockwise the encoder case. Really it’s not necessary to go beyond 30° in
both directions.

d) When it’s reached the condition shown on figure 10, it’s necessary utilize the cursors and
zoom operations in the oscilloscope to identify the correct ∆ between the two zero signals.
The minimum range recommend is 80µsecods, as shown in the figures 11 and 12.
When the value is reached stop the motor and tighten (very well) the screws to fix encoder.

e) Modify to the original configuration :
• Enabled encoder (the same procedure point 1) )
• LIVE Max to 380
• With SW Step7 modify (FC103 seg. 94-95-96) as in original condition (delete the
contact M0.2)

At this point the motor is ready to start with enabled encoder to the nominal speed.
