In this contemporary world with its rapidly increasing population “security is an illusion”. A
single change in any technological aspect brings some unforeseen problems with it and one
such glitch of technology is Cyber Crime. It is one of the darker side of the technology.
Cyber crime can be defined as a criminal activity in which the foremost tool is computer,
network or internet. Cyber crime can be considered as a loophole in the cyber lattice.

Cyber Criminal uses the computer technology to access personal information, business trade
secrets for malicious purposes. These activities are carried out in an illusionary space which
is referred as Cyber Space. We all are well versed with the fact that like a compass needle
that points north, the society’s accusing fingers always find a woman. Women are one of the
victims of cyber crime. This paper aims to shed light on the social and psychological
repercussions through which women go because of such crimes that happen against them.
These crimes include harassment via e-mail, cyber stalking, cyber pornography, defamation,
morphing and e-mail spoofing etc. The paper will also help the readers to comprehend the
role and duties of the society, law and the suffers’ family. The paper will also give insight
into the psyche of the women who are the victims of such misdeed happening in the cyber
space.
