2. CONDITIONAL SENTENCE
A : We had a great time at Drew's house Sunday. Why didn't you come?

B : I had to study for Spanish.

A : If you had come with us, you would have seen an awesome movie.

B : Yeah? What?

A : We rented Back to the Future. It's about a kid who time travels back to his parents' high
school days. He changes his own future. At the end, his parents...

B : Wait-Don't tell me. If you tell me the ending, you will spoil it for me. I want to see it
myself.

A : OK. But have you ever thought about that?

B : About what?

A : About how things could be different. You grew up here in Baileyville, and you're
almost an adult now. But what would your childhood have been like if you had been
born in a different family?

B : Let's see. If I had had a different family, I wouldn't have grown up here in Baileyville.

A : And if you hadn't grown up here, I wouldn't have met you.

B : That's true. But getting back to the here-and-now, how did you do on the Spanish test?

A : I flunked. I wish I hadn't taken that course. I'm going to fail.

B : You just don't study enough. If you study more, you will pass this course easily this
semester.

A : That's easy for you to say. You always get A's.

B : Sometimes I don't. It's not automatic. I don't get A's unless I study hard.

A : I suppose you're right.

B : If I were you, I would try to do better on the next test.

Koala
Koala is a very cute looking animal and it makes anybody wants to touch and hug it as
a doll. In fact, Koala is not as cute as its looks. At the nature, Koala is afraid of human and
when it is approached or touched, it will defence itself by using its sharp claws.

Koala is originally from some areas in Australia that can be found in Queensland, New
South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. Koala is an herbivore animal that typically
inhabits in eucalypt woodlands as the leaves of that tree is the main food for koala. In a day,
koala can eat around 400 grams of eucalypt leaves which are eaten spread over four to six

koala still needs additional water which it gets from the ground or any other water sources
near it.

Koala spends most of its time by sleeping. In a day, koala sleeps around 20 hours and

The Power Of Music In Our Life

Do you agree that music is important in our life? Yes I do, music has certain role
completing our day to day activities. Here are some reasons why music is heard everywhere
and anywhere. Music is a way to express feelings. When we fall in love, the kind of music
we’d listen to would be all about love. When we’re sad, we would go for music that is
melancholic in nature and immerse ourselves in the sadness. When we’re happy, we’d
choose songs with happy tunes too.

Song can help to memorize the last experiences. A favorite song is a powerful
documentary. People with Alzheimer which are impaired the brain would remember details
about songs they were familiar with. For example, an elderly woman who couldn’t even
remember her husband’s name wouldremember the details of her favorite song; when it was
played, how it made her feel and things about the song that made it especially memorable
for her.

Further, music can unite people for a cause and changes the world. A song with good
lyric and striking deep chord can stimulate the universal feeling of all people. We can see it
in the case of the famous and legendary Michael Jacson's Heal the World. It can arouse
humanism of a lot people in this world. So what would the world be like without music? It
would be lonely.
5. BIOGRAPHY

Muhamad Ibn Musa Al-Khwarizmi

Al-Khwarizmi (Mohammad ebne Mūsā Khwārazmī was a Persian mathematician,
astronomer, astrologer and geographer. He was born around 780 in Khwārizm, then part of
Persian Empire (now Khiva, Uzbekistan) and died around 850. He worked most of his life as
a scholar in the House of Wisdom in Baghdad.

His Algebra was the first book on the systematic solution of linear and quadratic
equations. Consequently he is considered by many to be the father of algebra, a title some
scholars assign to Diophantus. Latin translations of his Arithmetic, on the Indian numerals,
introduced decimal positional number system to the Western world in the twelfth century. He
revised and updated Ptolemy's Geography as well as writing several works on astronomy
and astrology.

His contributions not only made a great impact on mathematics, but on language as
well. The word algebra is derived from al-jabr, one of the two operations used to solve
quadratic equations, as described in his book. The words algorism and algorithm stem from
Algoritmi, the Latinization of his name. (In Finnish the term for algorithm is just that,
"algoritmi"). His name is also the origin of the Spanish word guarismo and of the Portuguese
word algarismo, both meaning digit.

Few details about al-Khwārizmī's life are known; it is not even certain where he was
born. His name indicates he might have come from Khwarezm (Khiva), then part of Greater
Khorasan, the eastern part of the territory of Persia, in the Abbasid empire, now Xorazm
Province of Uzbekistan. His kunya is given as either Abū Abd Allāh or Abū Jafar .

The historian Tabari gave his name as Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwārizmī al-Majousi
al-Katarbali. The epithet al-Qutrubbulli indicates he might instead have come from
Qutrubbull, a small town near Baghdad.
