½ Day of School We can’t believe that it is already May. We only have a month and a half left of school!
school! Upcoming Events
May: Students will continue writing their last names when signing in and learning how to Fire Drills: Wednesday, May 15th pronounce their last names. Please continue to work with your child at home on how to Friday, May 13th @ 10:00a.m. correctly pronounce his/her last name. Also, at home encourage your child to learn his/her Tuesday, May 21st @ 2:00p.m. June: home address and phone number. Prior to students entering kindergarten, we are asked if Tuesday, June 11th they know these things. Spring Book Fair: Monday, May 20th – Thursday, Wednesday, June 12th May 23rd Thursday, June 13th Students have been writing the numbers 22 – 24 on the message board and have been stating the number poems. For this month and the next, they will learn how to write the numbers Book Fair Family Night: 25 – 27, and they will learn the new number poems. Wednesday, May 22nd o 4:10p.m. – 7:00p.m. We will continue to implement our new writing program called Writer’s Workshop while continuing to follow the HighScope Curriculum. We will continue to modify it to meet our PTO Ice-Cream Social: student’s needs. Right now students are learning how to stretch and sound out words in Wednesday, May 22nd order to write words and/or sentences. We are using invented spelling when it comes to o 4:10p.m. – 7:00p.m. Spirit Day: writing the words down. We are helping student to memorize some sight words. We Friday, May 24th encourage students to try their best and to not give up when they stumble upon a hard word. o Sports Day Students have learned that they can make lists (grocery, phone, chore, birthday, etc.), as well. Encourage your child to work on these strategies at home, too!
