‫كان من تسبيحه أعني زين العابدين‬

55. One of his Glorifications that is, of Zain al-A’abideen (a.s.)

َ‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ اَللّٰ ُه َّم َو َح َنان َ ْيك‬

Glory be to Thee, O Allah, and I beg Thy loving care!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ اَللّٰ ُه َّم َو َت َعال َْي َت‬

Glory be to Thee, O Allah, and high art Thou exalted!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ اَللّٰ ُه َّم َو ا ْلعِزُّ ا ِ َزا ُر َك‬

Glory be to Thee, O Allah, and might is Thy loincloth![342]

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َال ّٰل ُه َّم َوا ْل َعظَ َم ُة رِدآؤ َُك‬

Glory be to Thee, O Allah, and mightiness is Thy cloak!

َ‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ اَللّٰ ُه َّم َوا ْل ِكبْر ِ َيآ ُء ُسل َْطان ُك‬
Glory be to Thee, O Allah, and magnificence is Thy authority!

َ‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ ِم ْن َعظ ِْي ِم َما أَ ْعظَ َمك‬

Glory be to Thee, All-Mighty! How mighty Thou art!

‫ َت ْس َم ُع َو َترٰى َما َت ْح َت الث َّ ٰرى‬،‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ ُس ِّب ْح َت ف ِ ْي ا ْل َم ََلِ اْلْ َ ْعلٰى‬

Glory be to Thee! Thou art glorified in the highest![343] Thou hearest and seest what is under the soil![344]

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ اَن ْ َت َشاهِ ُد كُلِّ ن َ ْج ٰوى‬

Glory be to Thee! Thou art witness over every whispered conversation![345]

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َم ْو ِض ُع كُلِّ َشكْ ٰوى‬

Glory be to Thee, the place where every complaint is put down!

‫اِض كُلِّ َم ََل ا‬

ُ ِ ‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َح‬
Glory be to Thee, present in every assembly!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َعظِي ُم الرَّجآ ِء‬

Glory be to Thee, object of great hopes!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َترٰى َما ف ِ ْي َق ْعر ِا ْل َمآ ِء‬

Glory be to Thee! Thou seest what is at the lowest depth of the water!

َ ‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َت ْس َم ُع أَ ْنف‬

ِ‫َاس ا ْل ِح ْي َتا ِن ف ِ ْي ُق ُع ْورِ ا ْلب ِ َحار‬
Glory be to Thee! Thou hearest the breaths of the fish in the lowest depths of the oceans!

َّ ‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َت ْع َل ُم َو ْز َن‬

Glory be to Thee! Thou knowest the weight of the heavens!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َت ْع َل ُم َو ْز َن ْاْلَ َر ِضي ْ َن‬

Glory be to Thee! Thou knowest the weight of the earths!

َّ ‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َت ْع َل ُم َو ْز َن‬

ِ ‫الش ْم ِس َو ا ْل َق َمر‬
Glory be to Thee! Thou knowest the weight of the sun and the moon!

ُّ ‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َت ْع َل ُم َو ْز َن‬

ِ‫الظل َْم ِة َوال ُّن ْور‬
Glory be to Thee! Thou knowest the weight of the darkness and the light!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َت ْع َل ُم َو ْز َن ا ْلفَ ْي ِء َوا ْل َه َوآ ِء‬

Glory be to Thee! Thou knowest the weight of the shadow and the air!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َت ْع َل ُم َو ْز َن ال ِّريْحِ َك ْم ه ِ َي ِم ْن ِم ْث َقا ِل ذ ََّرة ا‬

Glory be to Thee! Thou knowest the weight of the wind, how many times it is greater than the weight of a dust mote!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ ق ُُّد ْو ٌس ق ُُّد ْو ٌس ق ُُّد ْو ٌس‬

Glory be to Thee, All-holy, All-holy, All-holy!

َ ‫َعفَكَ َك ْي‬
َ‫ف َْل يَ َخا ُفك‬ َ َ ‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ َع َج ًبا َم ْن‬
Glory be to Thee! I wonder how any who knows Thee could fear Thee not!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ اَللّٰ ُه َّم َوب ِ َح ْمد َِك‬

Glory be to Thee, O Allah, and Thine is the praise!

‫ُس ْب َحانَكَ اهللُ ا ْل َعل ِ ُّي ا ْل َعظ ِْي ُم‬

Glory be to Allah, the All-high, the All-Mighty!

‫َر َوى الزُّهْر ِ ْي َع ْن َسعِي ِد بْ ِن ال ُْم َسي َِّب قا َل‬

Al-Zuhri related from Saeed ibn al-Musayyib.[346] He said:
َّ
‫َخ ْج ُت َم َعه‬ َ َ ‫ ف‬، ‫ْخ َج َعل ٌِّي بْ ُن ا ْل ُح َسي ْ ِن َس ِّي ُد ال َْعاب ِ ِديْ َن‬
َ َ ‫َْخ َج َو‬ ُ ْ َ‫ْخ ُج ْو َن ِم ْن َمك َة َحت ّٰي ي‬ َ َ‫ك‬
ُ ْ َ‫ان ا ْل َق ْو ُم َْل ي‬
The people were not going out of Mecca until Ali ibn al-Husain, the chief of the worshippers (a.s.) went out. So he went out, and
they went out with him.

ِ‫ َي ْعنِ ْي ب ِ ٰه َذا ال َّت ْسب ِ ْيح‬- ‫ ف ََسبَّحَ ف ِ ْي ُسجُ ْود ِ ٖه‬،‫َف َنزَ َل ف ِ ْي َب ْع ِض ال َْم َنازِ ِل ف ََصلّٰى َر ْك َع َتي ْ ِن‬
He stopped in one of the waystations and prayed two rak’as. Then he glorified Allah - I mean with this glorification - during his
prostration.

َ ‫ َفَ َ َف َع َر‬،‫ َففَز ِ ْع َنا‬،‫َفل َْم يَ ْب َق َش َج ٌر َو َْل َم َد ٌر اِْلَّ َسبَّحَ َم َعه‬

ِ‫ َن َع ْم يَا ابْ َن َر ُسو ِل اهلل‬:‫ يَا َسع ِْي ُد أَ فَز ِ ْع َت َف ُقل ُْت‬:‫ َف َقا َل‬،‫أسه‬
There was no tree and no clod of earth that did not glorify along with him, so we were frightened. He raised his head. He said: O
Saeed, are you frightened? I said: Yes, O son of the Messenger of Allah!

، ِ‫ َْل َت ْب َقى الذُّ ن ُْو ُب َم َع ٰه َذا ال َّت ْسب ِ ْيح‬:‫ َح َّدثَنِ ْي أَب ِ ْي َع ْن َج ِّد ْي َع ْن َر ُس ْو ِل اهللِ ﷺ‬،‫ ٰه َذا ال َّت ْسب ِ ْي ُح ْاْلَ ْعظَ ُم‬:‫َف َقا َل‬
He said: This is the greatest glorification. It was related to me by my father from his grandfather from the Messenger of Allah
(s.a.w.a.). No sins remain with this glorification.

ْ ‫ َو ه َُو‬، َ‫هلل َج َّل َج ََللُه َل َّما َخل ََق َجب ْ َرئ ِْي َل أَل َْه َمه ٰه َذا ال َّت ْسب ِ ْيح‬
.ُ‫اس ُم اهللِ اْلْ َ ْكبَر‬ َ ‫َو أَ َّن ا‬

When Allah (majestic is His majesty) created Gabriel, He inspired him with this glorification. It is Allah’s greatest name.

‫دعآء و تمجيد له‬

56. A Supplication and Magnification by him (a.s.)

‫اَ ْل َح ْم ُد ِهلِل َّال ِذ ْي‬

Praise belongs to Allah, who

ِ‫َت َجلّٰى ل ِ ْل ُقلُ ْو ِب بِا ْل َعظَ َمة‬

disclosed Himself to hearts through mightiness,

ِ ‫َو ا ْح َت َج َب َع ِن ْاْلَبْ َصارِ بِا ْل ِعزَّة‬

veiled Himself from eyes through might,

ِ ‫َوا ْق َت َد َر َعل َى ْاْلَ ْشيآ ِء بِا ْل ُق ْد َرة‬

and exercises power over the things through power!

‫ف َََل ْاْلَبْ َصا ُر َت ْثبُ ُت لِرُ ْؤيَتِ ٖه‬

Eyes are not firm enough to see Him

‫َو َْل ْاْلَ ْو َه ُام َت ْبلُ ُغ ُك ْن َه َعظَ َمتِ ٖه‬

and imaginations reach not the core of His mightiness.

‫َت َجب َّ َر با ْل َعظَ َمةِ َو ا ْل ِكبْرِيآ ِء‬

He displays His overwhelming power in mightiness and magnificence,

َ ‫َو َت َع َّط‬
‫ف بِا ْل ِعزِّ َو ا ْلب ِ ِّر َو ا ْل َج ََل ِل‬
robes Himself in might, goodness, and majesty,

‫َو َت َق َّد َس بِا ْل ُح ْس ِن َو ا ْل َج َما ِل‬

is far removed from imperfection through comeliness and beauty,

‫َْخ َو ا ْل َبهآ ِء‬

ِ ْ ‫َو َت َمج ََّد بِا ْلف‬
assumes His glory in pride and splendour,

‫َو َت َج َّل َل بِا ْل َم ْجدِ َو ْاْل َْل ِء‬

puts on His majesty through glory and boons,

‫الض َيآ ِء‬

ِّ ‫َو ا ْس َت ْخل ََص بِال َّن ْورِ َو‬
and has chosen for Himself light and radiance.

‫َخال ِ ٌق َْل ن َ ِظي ْ َر لَه‬

He is a Creator who has no equal,

‫َو َا َح ٌد ْلَ ن ِ َّد لَه‬

a Unique who has no rival,

‫َو َواح ٌِد َْل ض َِّد لَه‬

a One who has no opposite,

‫َو َص َم ٌد َْل ُكف َْو لَه‬

an Eternal Refuge who has no match,

‫َو اِل ٰ ٌه ْلَ ثَان ِ َي َم َعه‬

a Allah who has no second,

ٌ ِ ‫َو ف‬
ِ َ َ‫َاِط ْل‬
‫َشيْكَ لَه‬
an Initiator who has no partner,

‫َو َراز ٌِق َْل ُم ِعي ْ َن لَه‬

a Provider who has no helper.

‫َو ْاْلَ َّو ُل ب ِ ََل َز َوا ال‬

He is the First without disappearance,

‫الدآئ ِ ُم ب ِ ََل َف َن ا‬
‫اء‬ َّ ‫َو‬
the Everlasting without annihilation,

‫َو ا ْل َقائ ِ ُم ب ِ ََل َع َن ا‬

‫آء‬
the Standing without difficulty,

‫َو ا ْل ُم ْؤ ِم ُن ب ِ ََل ن ِ َها َي اة‬

the Security-giver without end,

‫َو ا ْل ُم ْب ِد ُئ ب ِ ََل اَ َم اد‬

the Originator without term,

‫َو الصَّ ان ِ ُع ب ِ ََل اَ َح اد‬

the Maker without anything,

‫َشيْ اك‬
ِ َ ‫َو الر َُّّب ب ِ ََل‬
the Lord without partner,

‫َاِط ب ِ ََل ك ُ ْل َف اة‬

ُ ِ ‫َو ا ْلف‬
the Initiator without discomfort,

‫َو ا ْل َفعَّا ُل ب ِ ََل َع ْجز ا‬

the Accomplisher without incapacity.

‫ل َْي َس لَه َح ٌّد ف ِ ْي َمكَا ان‬

He has no bound in space

‫َو َْل غَايَ ٌة ف ِ ْي َز َما ان‬

and no limit in time;

‫ل َْم َيزَ ْل َو َْل يَز ُ ْو ُل َو ل َْن َيزَا َل َكذٰ لِكَ اَبَ ًدا‬
He ever was, He ever is, He ever will be the same, endlessly.

‫اْلل ٰ ُه ا ْل َح ُّي ا ْل َق ُّي ْو ُم‬

ِ ْ ‫ه َُو‬
He is Allah, the Living, the Self-subsistent,

َّ
‫الدآئ ِ ُم ا ْل َق ِديْ ُم‬
the Everlasting, the Eternal,

‫ا ْل َقاد ِ ُر ا ْل َحك ِْي ُم‬

the All-powerful, the All-wise.

‫اِل ٰه ِ ْي‬
My Allah,

َ‫عُب َ ْي ُد َك بِ ِف َنآئ ِك‬

Thy little slave is in Thy courtyard,

َ‫َسآئِلُكَ بِ ِف َنآئ ِك‬

Thy beggar is in Thy courtyard,

)‫َفقِيْرُ َك بِ ِف َنآئ ِكَ (ثَ ََلثًا‬

Thy poor one is in Thy courtyard! (Three Times)

‫اِلٰه ِ ْي‬
My Allah,

‫َلكَ يَ ْرهَ ُب ا ْل ُمت َ َر ِّهبُ ْو َن‬

before Thee tremble the pious tremblers,

‫َو اِل َْيكَ اَ ْخل ََص ا ْل ُم ْس َته ِ ُّل ْو َن‬

to Thee devote themselves the lamenters,

‫َره َْب ًة َلكَ َو َر َجآ ًء ل ِ َعفْو ِ َك‬

in fear of Thee, in hope of Thee!

‫َيا اِل ٰ َه ا ْل َح ِّق‬

O Allah of Truth,

ِ ْ ‫ْار َح ْم دُ َعآ َء ا ْل ُم ْس َت‬

‫ْصخِي ْ َن‬
have mercy upon the supplication of those who cry for help!

‫ف َع ْن َج َرآئ ِِم ا ْل َغافِلِي ْ َن‬

ُ ‫َوا ْع‬
Pardon the sins of the heedless!

َ‫َو زِ ْد ف ِ ْي ا ِ ْح َسا ِن ا ْل ُمن ِ ْيبِي ْ َن يَ ْو َم ا ْل ُو ُف ْود ِ َعل َْيك‬

And increase beneficence toward those who keep turning [to Thee] on the Day they arrive before Thee,

ِ َ ‫َيا‬
‫َكيْ ُم‬
O Generous Allah!

‫محمد عليهم السَلم‬

ّ ‫في ذَك آل‬ ‫ان ِم ْن ُد َعآئ ِ ٖه‬
َ َ ‫َو ك‬
57. His Supplication in Mentioning the Household of Muhammad (upon them be peace)

‫اَل ّٰل ُه َّم َيا َم ْن‬

O Allah, O He who

‫َْكا َم ِة‬
َ َ ‫َخ َّص ُم َح َّم ًدا َوآلَه بِال‬
singled out Muhammad and his Household for honour,

ِ‫َو َح َباه ُْم بِالر َِّسا َلة‬

showed favour toward them with messengerhood,

ِ‫َو َخصَّ ْص ُه ْم بِا ْل َوس ِْي َلة‬

specified them for the mediation,[347] so

‫َو َج َع َل ُه ْم َو َرثَ َة ْاْلَنْب ِ َيآ ِء‬

appointed them the heirs to the prophets,

‫َو َخ َت َم بِه ِ ُم ْاْلَ ْو ِص َيآ َء َو ْاْلَئ ِ َّم َة‬

sealed with them the executors and the Imams,

َ َ ‫َو َع َّل َم ُه ْم عِل َْم َما ك‬

‫ان َو عِل َْم َما بَق ِ َي‬
taught them the knowledge of what has been and what remains to be,

ِ ‫َو َج َع َل أَ ْفئ ِ َد ًة ِم َن ال َّنا‬

‫س َت ْهوِي اِل َْيه ِ ْم‬
and made the hearts of the people incline toward them!

‫الطاهِرِيْ َن‬
َّ ِ‫ف ََصلِّ َعلٰى ُم َح َّم اد َوآلِه‬
Bless Muhammad and his Household, the pure,

َ ِ ‫الدن ْ َيا َو ْاْل‬

ِ ‫َخة‬ ِّ ‫َو اف َْع ْل ب ِ َنا َما اَن ْ َت أَهْلُه فِي‬
ُّ ‫الديْ ِن َو‬
and act toward us with that of which Thou art worthy in religion, in this world, and in the next world!

.‫اِنَّكَ َعلٰى كُلِّ َش ْي اء َق ِديْ ٌر‬

Thou art powerful over everything.]348[

‫في الصَلة على آدم‬ ‫ان ِم ْن دُ َعآئ ِ ٖه‬

َ َ ‫َو ك‬
58. His Supplication in Calling down Blessings upon Adam

‫اَل ّٰل ُه َّم َوآ َد ُم‬

O Allah, as for Adam,

َ ْ ‫بَ ِديْ ُع ف‬
َ‫ِْطت ِك‬
the marvel of Thy creation,

َ‫َو أَ َّو ُل ُم ْعتَر اِف ِّم َن ال ِّطي ْ ِن بِرُب ُ ْوب ِ َّيتِك‬

the first made of clay to confess Thy Lordship,

َ‫َوبَ ْد ُو ُح َّجتِكَ َعلٰى ع َِباد ِ َك َوبَرِيَّتِك‬

the beginning of Thy argument against Thy servants and creatures,

َ‫ل َعل َى ْاْل ِْستِ َج َارة ِبِ َعفْو ِ َك ِم ْن عُ ُق ْوبَتِك‬ َّ ‫َو‬

ُ ‫الدل ِ ْي‬
the guide to seeking sanctuary in Thy pardon from Thy punishment,

َ‫َو ال َّناهِ ُج ُسبُ َل َت ْوبَت ِك‬

the opener of the paths of repentance toward Thee,

َ‫ل بَي ْ َن ا ْل َخل ِْق َو بَي ْ َن َم ْعر ِ َفتِك‬

ُ َّ‫َو ا ْل ُم َوس‬
the giver of the creatures access to knowledge of Thee,

َ‫َو َّال ِذ ْي ل ََّق ْن َته َما َر َض ْي َت ب ِ ٖه َع ْن ُه ب ِ َم ِّنكَ َعل َْيهِ َو َر ْح َمت ِك‬
the one concerning whom Thou hast conveyed Thy good pleasure through Thy kindness and Thy mercy toward him,

َّ ِ ‫َو ا ْل ُمن ِ ْي ُب َّال ِذ ْي ل َْم ي‬

َ‫ُْص َعلٰى َم ْع ِص َيت ِك‬
the one who turned back and did not persist in disobeying Thee,

َ َ ‫َو َسآب ِ ُق ا ْل ُم َت َذ ِّللِي ْ َن ب ِ َحل ِْق َرأْ ِس ٖه ف ِ ْي‬

َ‫َح ِمك‬
the forerunner among the self-abasers, who shaved his head in Thy sacred precinct,

َّ ِ ‫ل َب ْع َد ا ْل َم ْع ِص َي ِة ب‬
‫الطا َع ِة الِٰى َعفْو ِ َك‬ ُ ‫َو ا ْل ُم َت َو ِّس‬
and among the seekers of access to Thy pardon, through obedience after disobedience,

َ‫َو أَب ُ ْو ْاْلَنْب ِ َيآ ِء َّال ِذيْ َن اُ ْوذُ ْوا فِي َج ْنبِك‬
and the father of the prophets, who were made to suffer for Thy sake

ِ ‫َو ا َ ْكثَرُ ُسكَّا ِن ْاْلَ ْر‬

َ‫ض َس ْع ًيا فِي طَا َعت ِك‬
and who strove more than all the earth’s inhabitants in obeying Thee -

‫ف ََصلِّ َعل َْيهِ اَن ْ َت يَا َر ْح ٰم ُن َو َم ََلئِكَتُكَ َو ُسكَّا ُن َس ٰم َوات ِكَ َو أَ ْرضِكَ َك َما‬
bless him, Thou - O All-merciful - Thy angels and the inhabitants of Thy heavens and Thy earth, just as he

ُ ُ ‫َع َّظ َم‬

َ‫َح َمات ِك‬
magnified Thy inviolable commands

َ‫َو َد َّل َنا َعلٰى َسب ِ ْي ِل َم ْر َضات ِك‬

and guided us upon the path of Thy good pleasure,

.‫َيا أَ ْر َح َم الرَّاحِمِي ْ َن‬

O Most Merciful of the merciful!

‫في الَكب واْلقالة‬ ‫ان ِم ْن دُ َعآئ ِ ٖه‬

َ َ ‫َو ك‬
59. His Supplication in Distress and Seeking Release

‫اِلٰه ِ ْي‬
My Allah,

‫َْل ُت ْشمِ ْت بِي َع ُد ِّوي‬

let not my enemy gloat over me

ْ ِ ‫َو َْل َت ْف َج ْع ب ِ ْي َحمِ ْي‬

‫ِم َو َص ِديْق ِ ْي‬
and torment not my dear kinsman or friend through me!

َ‫اِلٰه ِ ْي َه ْب لِي َل ْحظَ ًة ِم ْن َل َحظَ ات ِك‬

My Allah, of Thy glances, give me one glance, and thereby

ُ ‫َتكْ ِش‬
‫ف َعنِّ ْي َما ابْ َت َل ْي َتنِ ْي ب ِ ٖه‬
remove from me that by which Thou hast afflicted me

‫َو ُتعِي ُدنِي إل َى أَ ْح َس ِن َعا َدات ِكَ ع ِ ْند ِْي‬

and return me to the best of Thy customs with me!

‫اس َتجِ ْب دُ َعائ ِْي َودُ َعا َء َم ْن أَ ْخل ََص َلكَ دُعآ َءه َف َق ْد‬
ْ ‫َو‬
Respond to my supplication and the supplication of him who devotes his supplication sincerely to Thee,

‫َض ُعف َْت ُق َّوت ِْي‬

for my power has become frail,

‫َو َق َّل ْت ح ِْي َلتِ ْي‬

my stratagems few,

‫اش َت َّد ْت َحال ِ ْي‬

ْ ‫َو‬
my situation severe,

َ‫َوأَي ِ ْس ُت ِم َّما ع ِ ْن َد َخ ْلق ِك‬

and I despair of what is with Thy creatures,

‫َفل َْم َي ْب َق ل ِ ْي ا ِ َّْل َر َجآؤ َُك َعل َ َّي‬

so nothing remains for me but hope in Thee!

‫اِلٰه ِ ْي‬
My Allah,

‫ا ِ َّن ق ُْد َر َتكَ َعلٰى َك ْش ِف َما اَنَا ف ِْيهِ َك ُق ْد َرت ِكَ َعلٰى َما ابْ َت َل ْي َتنِ ْي ب ِ ٖه‬
surely Thy power to remove that in which I dwell is like Thy power in that with which Thou hast afflicted me!

َ ْ ِ ‫َو ا ِ َّن ذ‬
‫َك َع َوآئِد َِك يُ ْون ُِسنِ ْي‬
And surely the remembrance of Thy acts of kindliness comforts me

‫َوالرَّجآ ُء ف ِ ْي ا ِ ْن َعا ِمكَ َوف َْضلِكَ ُي َقوِّيْنِ ْي‬

and hope in Thy showing favour and Thy bounty strengthens me,

ُ ‫ََِْلن ِّ ْي ل َْم أَ ْخ‬

‫ل ِم ْن ن ِْع َمتِكَ ُم ْن ُذ َخ َل ْق َتنِ ْي‬
for I have not been without Thy favour ever since Thou created me.

َْ‫َو َان ْ َت اِلٰه ِ ْي‬

And Thou, my Allah, art

َ ‫َم ْفزَعِ ْي َو َم ْل َج‬

‫اي‬
my place of flight, my asylum,

‫آب َعنِّ ْي‬ َّ

ُّ ‫َوا ْل َحاف ُِظ ل ِ ْي َوالذ‬

my protector, my defender,

‫ا ْل ُم َت َحن ِّ ُن َعل َ َّي ال َّرح ِْي ُم ب ِ َي‬

the loving toward me, the compassionate,

ُ ‫ا ْل ُم َت َك ِّف‬
‫ل بِر ِ ْزق ِ ْي‬
and the guarantor of my provision.

َ َ ‫ف ِ ْي َق َضآئ ِكَ ك‬
‫ان َما َح َّل ب ِ ْي‬
In Thy decree lay what has settled upon me

ِ‫ِص ُت اِل َْيه‬

ْ ِ ‫َو بِ ِع ْلمِكَ َما‬
and in Thy knowledge that to which I have come home.

‫فَا ْج َع ْل يا َولِي ِّْي َو َس ِّيد ِْي ف ِ ْ َمْي َق َّد ْر َت َو َق َض ْي َت َعل َ َّي َو َح َت ْم َت‬
So, my Patron and Master, place within that which Thou hast ordained, decreed, and made unavoidable for me,

ِ‫َعاف َِيتِ ْي َو َما ف ِْيهِ َص ََلح ِْي َو َخ ََلصِ ْي ِم َّما اَنَا ف ِْيه‬
my well-being and that wherein lies my soundness and my deliverance from that in which I am!

‫َفانِ ِّ ْي َْل اَ ْر ُجو ل ِ َد ْف ِع ذلِكَ غَي ْ َر َك‬

I hope for none to repel this other than Thee,

َ‫َو َْل أَ ْع َتمِ ُد ف ِْيهِ ا ِ َّْل َعل َْيك‬

and I rely in it only upon Thee.

َ ْ ‫َفكُ ْن يا ذَا ا ْل َج ََل ِل َواْل‬

َ‫َِكام ِع ِ ْن َد َا ْح َس ِن ظَ نِّ ْي بِك‬
O Possessor of majesty and munificence, be with my best opinion of Thee![349]

‫َو ْار َح ْم َض ْعف ِْي َوق ِ َّل َة ح ِْي َلتِ ْي‬

Have mercy upon my frailty and the paucity of my stratagems,

ْ ‫َو ْاك ِش‬

ُْ ‫ف‬
‫َكبَتِ ْي‬
remove my distress,

‫َو ا ْس َتجِ ْب َد ْع َوت ِْي‬

grant my supplication,

‫َو اَق ِ ْلنِ ْي َعث ْ َرت ِْي‬

ease me from my stumble,

َ‫َو ا ْمن ُ ْن َعل َ َّي بِذٰ لِكَ َو َعلٰى كُلِّ َدا اع َلك‬
and show kindness to me in that and to everyone who supplicates Thee!

ِ ْ ِ ‫الد َعآ ِء َو َت َك َّفل َْت ب‬

ِ‫اْل َجابَة‬ ُّ ِ ‫َا َم ْر َتنِ ْي يَا َس ِّيد ِْي ب‬
My Master, Thou hast commanded me to supplicate and undertaken to respond,[350]

َ ‫َو َو ْع ُد َك ا ْل َح ُّق َّال ِذ ْي ْلَ ُخل‬

‫ْف ف ِْيهِ َوْل َت ْب ِديْ َل‬
and Thy promise is the truth in which there is no failing, nor any change.[351]

‫ف ََصلِّ َعلٰى ُم َح َّم اد نَب ِ ِّيكَ َو َع ْبد َِك‬

So bless Muhammad, Thy prophet and servant,

‫الطاه ِرِيْ َن ِم ْن اَهْ ِل بَ ْيتِ ٖه‬

َّ ‫َو َعل َى‬
and the pure, the Folk of his House,

َ‫َو اَغِ ْثنِ ْي فَإنَّك‬

and help me, surely Thou art

ُ ‫غِ َي‬
َ ‫اث َم ْن َْل غِ َي‬
‫اث لَه‬
the help of him who has no help

ْ ِ ‫َح ُز َم ْن َْل‬
‫َح َز لَه‬ ْ ِ ‫َو‬
and the stronghold of him who has no stronghold,

‫ْط َّال ِذ ْي اَ ْو َج ْب َت‬

ُّ َ ‫َو اَنَا ا ْل ُم ْض‬
while I am the distressed

‫الس ْو ِء‬ َ ‫ا ِ َجابَ َت ُه َو َك ْش‬

ُّ ‫ف َما ب ِ ٖه ِم َن‬
the response to whom and the removal of evil from whom Thou hast made obligatory![352]

ْ ‫َف َا ِج ْبنِ ْي َو ْاك ِش‬

ْ ِّ ‫ف َه‬
‫ِم‬
So respond to me, remove my concern,

ْ ِّ ‫َو َ َِّف ْج غ‬
‫َِم‬
relieve my gloom,

ِ‫َو اَع ِْد َحال ِ ْي الِٰى اَ ْح َس ِن َما كَان َ ْت َعل َْيه‬

return my state to the best it has been,

‫َو َْل تُ َجازِن ِ ْي ب ِ ْاْل ِْستِ ْح َقا ِق َو لٰك ِْن ب ِ َر ْح َمت ِكَ َّالتِ ْي َوس َِع ْت ك ُ َّل َش ْي اء‬
and repay me not according to what I deserve, but according to Thy mercy which embracest all things, [353]

َ ْ ‫َيا ذَا ا ْل َج ََل ِل َو ْاْل‬

ِ ‫َِكام‬
O Possessor of majesty and munificence!

‫َصلِّ َعلٰى ُم َح َّم اد َوآ ِل ُم َح َّم اد‬

Bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, hear,

ُ ‫َو ا ْس َم ْع َو اَ ِج ْب َيا َعزِيْز‬

and respond, O All-mighty!

‫مما يحذره ويخافه‬

ّ ‫ان ِم ْن ُد َعآئ ِ ٖه‬
َ َ ‫َو ك‬
60. His Supplication against that which he Feared and Dreaded[354]

‫اِلٰه ِ ْي اِنَّه‬
My Allah,

َ‫ل َْي َس َيرُ ُّد غ ََض َبكَ ا ِ َّْل حِل ُْمك‬

nothing repels Thy wrath but Thy clemency,

‫َو َْل يُ ْنج ِْي ِم ْن ع ِ َقابِكَ ا ِ َّْل َعف ُْو َك‬

nothing delivers from Thy punishment but Thy pardon,

َّ
ُّ َ ‫َو َْل يُ َخ ِّل ُص ِم ْنكَ اِْل َر ْح َمتُكَ َو ال َّت‬
َ‫َض ُع اِل َْيك‬
nothing rescues from Thee but Thy mercy and pleading to Thee![355]

‫َف ًحا بِا ْل ُق ْد َرة ِ َّالتِ ْي‬

َ َ ‫ف ََه ْب ل ِ ْي يَا اِلٰه ِ ْي‬
So give me, my Allah, relief by means of the power through which

ِ ‫ب ِ َها تُ ْحيِ ْي َم ْي َت ا ْلب ِ ََلد‬

Thou bringest the dead lands to life

ُ ُ ‫َو ب ِ َها َت ْن‬

ِ ‫ُش اَ ْر َو َاح ا ْلع َِباد‬
and revivest the spirits of the servants![356]

‫اْل َجابَ َة‬ ِّ َ ‫َوْل تُ ْهلِكْنِ ْي َو‬

ِ ْ ‫َع ْفنِ ْي‬
Destroy me not, and give me the knowledge of Thy response, my Lord!

‫َي َار ِّب َو ْارف َْعنِ ْي َو ْلَ َت َض ْعنِ ْي‬

Raise me up and push me not down,

ْ ُ ‫َو ا ْن‬
‫ْصن ِ ْي َو ْارزُ ْقنِ ْي‬
help me, provide for me,

ِ ‫َو َعافِنِ ْي ِم َن ْاْلفَا‬

‫ت‬
and release me from every blight!

‫َيا َر ِّب‬
My Lord,

‫ا ِ ْن َت ْرف َْعنِ ْي ف ََم ْن َي َض ُعنِ ْي‬

if Thou raisest me up, who will push me down?

‫َو ا ِ ْن َت َض ْعنِ ْي ف ََم ْن َي ْر َف ُعنِ ْي‬

If Thou pushest me down, who will raise me up?

‫َو َق ْد َعل ِ ْم ُت يا اِلٰه ِ ْي َا ْن‬

But I know, my Allah, that

‫ل َْي َس ف ِ ْي حُكْمِكَ ُظل ٌْم‬

there is no wrong in Thy decree,

‫َو َْل ف ِ ْي َنق ِ َمتِكَ َع َج َل ٌة‬

and no hurry in Thy vengeance.

‫اف ا ْلف َْو َت‬ ُ ‫اِن َّ َما َي ْع َج‬

ُ ‫ل َم ْن َي َخ‬
He alone hurries who fears to miss,

‫ف‬ َّ ‫الظل ِْم‬

ُ ‫الضع ِْي‬ ُّ ‫َو َي ْح َتا ُج الِ َى‬
and only the weak needs to wrong.

‫َو َق ْد َتعال َْي َت َع ْن ٰذلِكَ يا َس ِّيد ِْي ُعلُ ًّوا َكبِي ْ ًرا‬
But Thou art exalted, my Master, high indeed above all that!

‫َر ِّب َْل َت ْج َع ْلنِ ْي‬

My Lord, make me not

َ َ ‫لِل َْب ََل ِء‬

‫َغ ًضا‬
the target of affliction

‫َو َْل ل ِ َنق ِ َمتِكَ َن َص ًبا‬

nor the object of Thy vengeance,

‫َو َم ِّه ْلنِ ْي َو َن ِّف ْسنِ ْي‬

respite me, comfort me,

‫َو َاق ِ ْلنِ ْي َعث ْ َرت ِْي‬

release me from my stumble,

‫َو َْل تُتْب ِ ْعنِ ْي بِا ْل َب ََل ِء‬

and send not affliction after me,

‫َف َق ْد َترٰى َض ْعف ِْي َو ق ِ َّل َة ح ِْي َلتِ ْي‬

for Thou hast seen my frailty, and the paucity of my stratagems.

‫َض ٌع اِل َْيكَ يا َر ِّب‬ ٌ ‫ف ََصب ِّ ْرن ِ ْي َفانِ ّ ْي َيا َر ِّب َضع ِْي‬
ِّ َ ‫ف ُم َت‬
So give me patience, for I, my Lord, am weak, and I plead to Thee, my Lord!

‫َو اَعُ ْوذُ بِكَ ِم ْنكَ َف َاع ِْذن ِ ْي‬

‘I seek refuge in Thee from Thee’, so give me refuge![357]

‫َو اَ ْس َتجِيْرُ بِكَ ِم ْن كُلِّ بَ ََل اء َف َا ِج ْرن ِ ْي‬

I seek sanctuary in Thee from every affliction, so grant me sanctuary!
ِ
ُ ‫َو َا ْس َتترُ بِكَ فَا ْست ُ ْرن ِ ْي يَا َس ِّيد ِْي ِم َّماََا َخ‬
‫اف َوََا ْح َذ ُر‬
I cover myself through Thee, so cover me, my Master, from what I fear and dread!

‫َو اَن ْ َت ا ْل َعظ ِْي ُم اَ ْعظَ ُم ِم ْن كُلِّ َعظ ِْي ام‬

Thou art the All-mighty, mightier than every mighty thing!

‫بِكَ بِكَ بِكَ ا ْس َتت َ ْر ُت‬

Through Thee, through Thee, through Thee, I cover myself.

ُ‫يا اَهللُ يا اَهللُ يا اَهللُ يا اَهللُ يا اَهللُ يا اَهللُ يا اَهللُ يا اَهللُ يا اَهللُ يا اَهلل‬
O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, O Allah!

‫الطاهِرِيْ َن‬
َّ ‫الطيِّبِي ْ َن‬
َّ ِ‫َصلِّ َعلٰى ُم َح َّم اد َو آلِه‬
Bless Muhammad and his Household, the good, the pure!

‫في التذلّل‬ ‫ان ِم ْن ُد َعآئ ِ ٖه‬

َ َ ‫َو ك‬
61. His Supplication in Abasing himself

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, my Master!

‫اَن ْ َت ا ْل َم ْولٰى َو اَنَا ا ْل َع ْب ُد‬

Thou art the Master and I the servant!

‫َو َه ْل يَ ْر َح ُم ا ْل َع ْب َد ا ِ َّْل ا ْل َم ْولٰى‬

Has anyone mercy upon the servant but the master?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, my Master!

َّ ‫َان ْ َت ا ْل َعزِيْز ُ َو اَنَا‬

ُ ‫الذل ِ ْي‬
‫ل‬
Thou art the Exalted and I the abased!

َّ ‫َو َه ْل َي ْر َح ُم‬
ُ ‫الذل ِ ْي َل ا ِ َّْل ا ْل َعزِيْز‬
Has anyone mercy upon the abased but the exalted?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, my Master!

ُ ُ‫اَن ْ َت ا ْل َخال ِ ُق َو اَنَا ا ْل َم ْخل‬

‫وق‬
Thou art the Creator and I the creature!

‫وق ا ِ َّْل ا ْل َخال ِ ُق‬

َ ُ‫َو َه ْل يَ ْر َح ُم ا ْل َم ْخل‬
Has anyone mercy upon the creature but the creator?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, My Master!

‫ل‬ َّ ‫َان ْ َت ا ْل ُم ْع ِط ْي َو اَنَا‬

ُ ِ ‫السائ‬
Thou art the Giver and I the asker!

‫السائ ِ َل ا ِ َّْل ا ْل ُم ْع ِط ْي‬

َّ ‫َو َه ْل َي ْر َح ُم‬
Has anyone mercy upon the asker but the giver?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, My Master!

‫اَن ْ َت ا ْل ُمغ ِْي ُث َو اَنَا ا ْل ُم ْس َتغ ِْي ُث‬

Thou art the Helper and I the seeker of help!

‫َو َه ْل َي ْر َح ُم ا ْل ُم ْس َتغ ِْي َث ا ِ َّْل ا ْل ُمغ ِْي ُث‬

Has anyone mercy upon the seeker of help but the helper?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, My Master!

‫اَن ْ َت ا ْلباق ِ ْي َو اَنَا ا ْل َفان ِ ْي‬

Thou art the Subsistent and I the perishing!

‫َو َه ْل َي ْر َح ُم ا ْلفان ِ ْي ا ِ َّْل ا ْلباق ِ ْي‬

Has anyone mercy upon the perishing but the subsistent?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, My Master!

َّ ‫اَن ْ َت‬
ُ ِ ‫الدائ ِ ُم َو اَنَا الزَّائ‬
‫ل‬

Thou art the Everlasting and I the vanishing!

َّ ‫َو َه ْل َي ْر َح ُم الزَّآئ ِ َل ا ِ َّْل‬

‫الدآئ ِ ُم‬
Has anyone mercy upon the vanishing but the everlasting?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, My Master!

‫اَن ْ َت ا ْل َح ُّي َو اَنَا ا ْل َمي ُِّت‬

Thou art the Living and I the dead!

‫َو َه ْل َي ْر َح ُم ا ْل َمي َِّت ا ِ َّْل ا ْل َح ُّي‬

Has anyone mercy upon the dead but the living?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, My Master!

‫ف‬ َّ ‫اَن ْ َت ا ْل َقو ِ ُّي َو اَنَا‬

ُ ‫الضع ِْي‬
Thou art the Strong and I the weak!

‫ف ا ِ َّْل ا ْل َقو ِ ُّي‬ َّ ‫َو َه ْل يَ ْر َح ُم‬

َ ‫الضع ِْي‬
Has anyone mercy upon the weak but the strong?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, My Master!

ُ‫َان ْ َت ا ْل َغنِ ُّي َو َانَا ا ْل َفقِيْر‬

Thou art the Rich and I the poor!

‫َو َه ْل َي ْر َح ُم ا ْل َفقِي ْ َر ا ِ َّْل ا ْل َغنِ ُّي‬

Has anyone mercy upon the poor but the rich?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

My Master, My Master!

ُ‫اَن ْ َت ا ْل َكبِيْرُ َو اَنَا الصَّ غِيْر‬

Thou art the Great and I the small!

ُ‫َو َه ْل َي ْر َح ُم الصَّ غِي ْ َر ا ِ َّْل ا ْلكَبِيْر‬

Has anyone mercy upon the small but the great?

‫َم ْو َْل َي َم ْو َْل َي‬

َ ‫ك َو َانَا ا ْل َم ْم ُل‬
‫وك‬ ُ ِ ‫َان ْ َت ا ْل َمال‬
Thou art the Owner and I the owned!

ُ ِ ‫وك ا ِ َّْل ا ْلمال‬

‫ك‬ َ ُ‫َو َه ْل َي ْر َح ُم ا ْل َم ْمل‬
Has anyone mercy upon the owned but the owner?
