Dear Advisory Board:

My area of interest is how more money from the military budget could be spent on improving the
life of veterans. America’s military budget is large and extremely important, but some money can
be used more efficiently. Some of the money in our budget could be put to better use by helping
veterans. I chose this area because I appreciate the sacrifices of our armed forces and their
families. I will have to learn how to hold and organize a fundraiser, then donate it to
organizations that focus on helping local veterans in need.

The United States defense budget should not be cut in order to protect against growing outside
threats, to stay ahead of the rest of the world in technological advancements, and to fulfill the
constitutional mandate to provide for the defense of the nation. My paper focused on how
American tax dollars were spent on defense. Our nation pours hundreds of billions of dollars
into the military. The United States has the biggest military budget in the world, and it continues
to grow with the help of some politicians. Even with the largest military budget in the world some
America’s veterans come home to nothing. Why should more military funding not be spent to
support our veterans after they have given so much to protect our country?

My product plan is holding a fundraiser for local veterans. I have been a part of many events
raising money, but I have never organized a fundraiser. It will be challenging to collect money
from patrons. There are so many charities to donate to that support good causes which creates
competition. I will need to convince people that this problem is worth donating to. My expert will
be a long time friend and neighbor, Ronnie Booth. Ronnie is a retired First Sergeant in the
United States Army. He served 22 years before retiring and he now works for the Veterans
Administration in Winston Salem.

I understand that plagiarism is unfair to those who worked hard to achieve their goals. Rather
than cheating on a difficult task, working through it will make a person stronger. Plagiarism is
also largely frowned upon by hard working people and respectable institutions. If students are
caught cheating in a college setting they could be kicked out without a refund of their money.
Being an ethical person speaks to one’s character. An ethical person acts with morals that
influence their actions. Doing the right thing will gives people a sense of self accomplishment
and worth. Others look to ethical people as an example and to lead them.

Sincerely,
Jordan Pulliam
