THIS WORLD IS NOT OUR HOME!
What a week it has been for Christians
around the world. In Sri Lanka, bomb-
ings killed more than 250 Christians who
gathered for Easter. In China, Christian
churches in many parts of the country are
being disbanded and their facilities are
being destroyed by government forces.
We need to be praying daily for those
suffering persecution around the world,
no matter their beliefs. God honors
choices and the consequences of those
choices. He never rules by force, but by
servitude. God loves! We are asked to
love our enemies, not fight back.
We also need to remember that wring-
ing our hands about how bad the times
are profits no one. Jesus told us He will
return when the good news is preached
to the whole world. Let’s pray that we
may be faithful in our task to do His work
right here in the Inland Empire!
LAST SUNDAY MORNING, a number
of our Campus Hill Church Family met
at 5am in the parking lot carpooling to
the Res-
urrection

hear the

down the
mountain
as we hiked to the top. The wildflow-
ers were out in abundance, and while
at the foot of the cross we made some
new friends as we sang and prayed.
Our group formed a bond through this
shared experience as we walked and
talked. Plan on joining next year to re-
ceive a great blessing!
Connecting With Christ
Nearly everyone can look back upon
friendships that at one time were
strong and growing but which have
fallen apart. The reasons are many
and varied, and no two the same.
The relationship ended because of a
move where distance became an is-
sue or it could have been a change of
world views or faith. It could be any
of a thousand reasons, but in the end
the relationship faded away.
There are other relationships, how-
ever, that remain in spite of distance,
disagreements, and the crazy things
of life. Mary Ann Evans, known by
her pen name George Eliot, hit at the
root of this kind of friendship:
“Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible
comfort of feeling safe with a person,
having neither to weigh thoughts, nor
measure words, but to pour them all
out just as they are, chaff and grain
together knowing that a faithful hand
will take and sift them, keep what is
worth keeping, and then, with the
breath of kindness blow the rest
away.”
It’s my prayer that we can be the type
of friends she describes and model
our lives after the “friend who is clos-

Roar VBS is an African adventure for
the entire crew. Students will learn
that “God is good” and will stay with
them forever.
This VBS will teach and reinforce
young bible students God’s good-
ness in all of life circumstances. In
the joyful and in the painful, God is
always with us, taking care of us.
Kids experience God’s Word every
day. One memorable Bible Point is
reinforced throughout each station,
each day—making it easy to apply
long after VBS is over.
