5. PROCEDURES
5.2 FORMWORK
Gap between concrete beam and annular plate shall be closed from outside using wooden plank.
Internal face shall be oiled before fixing.
Two openings shall be left at each side; one shall be for pouring grouting material and the other
shall be for releasing the air.
Formwork shall be clean and fixed in place as soon as possible after the substrate has
been prepared.
If required, release agents shall be applied to the formwork before placing into position. Do
not contaminate the substrate with the release agent and reduce bond of the grout material
from spillage or run-off.
Formwork shall be watertight and free from obstructions to allow the free flow of grout.
Formwork shall be designed to allow air and water bleed to escape.
In the case of a long base plate, ensure there is enough pressure head to help the flow of
the grout. Divide into sections if necessary and apply the grout in more than one stage.
Formwork should be fixed in such a way as to allow easy stripping, without causing damage
or distress to the grout.
5.3 MIXING
Add water according to the desired consistency into a clean mixing vessel before slowly adding the
SikaGrout®-214 AE powder. SikaGrout®-214 AE is best mixed in a forced action mixer, for 2-3
minutes or until the mix is free of lumps, not longer than 5 minutes. Normal tumble type concrete
mixers are NOT suitable. Do not mix more grout than can be placed within 15-20 minutes. DO NOT
ADD EXTRA WATER OR OTHER INGREDIENTS

5.4 APPLICATION
Before pouring let the mixed grout stand for approximately 5 minutes after mixing to allow entrapped
air to escape. Pour into the prepared area such that the grout has the shortest distance to travel.
Ensure that air displaced by the grout is allowed to escape. When carrying out the base plate grout-
ing, ensure a sufficient head of pressure to keep the mortar flowing. All exposed areas of the mortar
surface should be kept as small as possible.
5.5 CLEANING
Clean equipment and mixer immediately after application with water. Hardened material can only
be removed mechanically.
5.6 DE-SHUTTERING
Remove the formwork during the following day.
5.7 CURING
Treat exposed surfaces with Antisol-E curing compound or use other approved curing methods
such as polyethylene sheeting or wet hessian
5.8 DEMOBILIZATION
Remove all tools and excess material right after completing grouting and cleaning tools.
6. HSE
Work is to be carried out in a safe manner and in accordance with the H.S.E Program and
Safety Policy. Site operatives shall be well inducted for the safe operation of the machiner-
ies, equipment & tools to be used.
Personnel Protective Equipment will be used by all staff & labours. The minimum personal
protective equipment is as follows:
