Bartech Marine Engineering has been building a strong reputation for safety, reliability
and quality since it was established in 1987. Almost immediately it began supporting
major companies such as Shell, Lockhead and the OEM, Paxman Diesels.
This reputation has been built on our core belief of supporting clients with mechanical
excellence, responsiveness and integrity. We will always look to provide the best long term
solution for our clients and develop a longstanding relationship.
Although our specialist areas centre on engines, governors, turbochargers and fuel pipes,
we constantly strive to enhance our support capabilities and develop our services as a
supplier.
Bartech Marine Engineering has a strong team with varied specialised backgrounds
including OEM training, CMM, machining, project management, quality, logistics, IT and
administration which equips us to respond effectively and in a cost efficient way to your
specific requirements. These in-house skills are backed by the core company values
reinforced by family ownership.
The desire for the highest standards and continuous improvement has resulted in
significant and regular reinvestment into the company. This is clearly shown in the new
workshop which is nearly 20,000 ft2 and includes:
Reengineering Bay
As a client responsive company we are able to adapt our technical support to match the
needs of the client. Predominately there are 4 main ways we are able to utilise our
expertise:
Once with the engine, our engineer will conduct a risk assessment along with an initial
investigation to identify the severity of the damage, which may be hidden at first sight. To
assist this, the engineer will normally use specialist tooling as well as a borescope and test
equipment.
Once the diagnoses has been carried out recommendations are put forward in a
conference call with relevant parties to agree the next steps.
This will be followed by a full report, including photos and proposed workscope where
appropriate. The engineer will then carryout any agreed repairs, if possible to make the
engine available.
Whether as a result of damage caused to the engine, or the amount of hours completed,
we can support full engine overhauls.
is normally carried out by providing spare assemblies to swap during the overhaul to
minimise downtime. This can be carried out by 2 teams of engineers, one on days and
one on nights, again reducing the downtime of the engine.
The assembly will include new joints, gaskets and seals and the engine will be test run on
completion and signed off before the engineers return back to shore.
Bartech has extensive experience with re-engineering having manufacture parts for
various OEMs.
Bartech work closely with various generator maintenance companies offering dedicated
diesel engine expertise in support of their maintenance contracts.
It is the diverse skill set within the company and multi disciplines of the engineers which
has allowed Bartech to offer this support and for our clients to tender for contracts which
they normally would not.
An example of this would be our knowledge and experience on the Mirrless Blackstone
and MTU 4000 series engines which has allowed one of our clients to successfully support
a contract of routine maintenance and win this for a second term.
Working on advisory level, Bartech was able to work with our client, the contract holder, to
plan, cost and carryout key assembly upgrades to the existing engines.
Our daily on site reports (sit reps) are key to reacting quickly to any issues which occur this
coupled together with a full engineers report to show findings from weekly, 6 month and
12 monthly services have created confidence for our clients and intern the generator
operators.
Below is an example engineers report from a resent 6 monthly service at an RBS data
communication centre.
We have our own field support team of engineers with experience in most diesel engine
ranges installed as part of generator, fire pump, crane and lifeboat packages. This
experience can be further utilising our relationships with OEMs.
When additional specialist OEM support is required we can work with the recognised OEM
or agent, which has been done previously. This is only a snap shot of the engines we have
worked on and have experience with.
