Hypothesis
Characteristics
Types:
1. Research
2. Null
3. Alternatives
4. Statistics

1. Research hypothesis
We have defined as hypotheses are actually research hypotheses that are defined as
tentative propositions about the possible relationships between two or more variables
(Babbie, 2014 y 2012; Martin y Bridgmon, 2012; Davis, 2008; Kalaian y Kasim, 2008 e
Iversen, 2003 and that they must meet the five requirements mentioned, they are usually
symbolized as Hi o H1, H2,H3, etc. (When they are several), and they are also mastered
"Work hypothesis" the research hypothesis can be. (Roberto Hernández Sampieri, 2014)
a. Descriptive
(García, 2015)
c. Difference of groups
(Suau)
Example
The null hypotheses are, in a way, the reverse of the research hypothesis, they also
constitute propositions about the relationship between variables only that serve to refute or
deny what the research hypothesis affirms if the research hypothesis proposes:
"Adolescents attribute it more importance to physical attractiveness in their relationships
than teenagers ". Because this type of hypothesis is the counterpart of the research
hypothesis, the classification of null hypotheses is similar to the typology of the research
hypotheses. (Roberto Hernández Sampieri, 2014)
Example
(cerebriti)
H0: Satisfaction about the quality of the
environmental design of the interior of
the office where it works does not
increase the overall satisfaction of the
work space by its occupants or their
work performance.

3. Alternative Hypothesis
As its name implies, alternative possibilities of the research hypothesis and no offer a
description or explanation other than those provided, each one is a description different
from those they provide. Alternative hypotheses are symbolized as Ha and can only be
formulated when there are indeed other possibilities, in addition to the research hypothesis
and null if not, they should not be established. (Roberto Hernández Sampieri, 2014)
Example
H0: Young people do not attribute more importance to physical attractiveness in their
relationships than young women.
Ha: Young people attribute less importance to physical attractiveness in their relationships
than young women.

(Clarín, 2018)
4. Statistical Hypothesis
It consists of a statement about one or more parameters of the distribution of the random
variable in question, it is statistical procedure that allows to accept or reject a statement
made regarding a phenomenon or event.
Example
Hypothesis
1. Research hypothesis
2. Alternative hypotheses
3. Statistical hypothesis
Although the risks and dangers inherent to the police task may be the stressors with the
greatest potential in terms of their intensity, they are not the only ones, not even the most
common ones, the sources of stress in the police world can be multiple, depending on the
area in which we will find ourselves, of the job that each agent occupies or even of the time
of the year to which we refer, given that police work is usually marked by an important
factor of seasonality, with periods of hard work and others of relative calm.
They could be divided into two large groups: the stressors inherent to the task and the
stressors related to the organization in which it takes place; In the first group would be the
dangers of their own complicated work and the emotional impacts derived from the
continuous treatment with the problems of other people, while the second according to
some studies stress these professionals as much or more than the aspects related to the
content of their work, among others, would be the shortage of personnel and their
consequent overload of work, the insufficiency or precariousness of the resource, the shift
work, the lack of communication and consultation, the scant support of superiors. The
Organization (ILO), states that "it is evident that the work of police officers is stressful,
many agents perceive the excessive administrative work of direct surveillance as a stressor.
The European Commission states that stress is nothing more than a set of potentially
pathogenic mechanisms (causes of diseases) whose results include death. (Tomas Garcia
Castro, 2015)
