Fishing: Fishing is an action that goes back to the origins of the species since it has always been a necessary action for the human being to acquire food. Therefore, the fact of fishing, which consists of extracting or capturing any type of fish or aquatic species (depending on whether it is river, sea, lake, etc.) has always existed. What has been changing have been the fishing techniques, different types of fishing and tools to do it, as well as the purpose with which it is made, since, as we will see later on, nowadays there is also sport fishing, where the purpose is no longer the obtaining of food, but the mere enjoyment of fishing.
Types of fishing according to the place:
Marine fishing: This type of fishing is generally considered as the
type of fishing that takes place in salt water, that is, in the sea, either in the areas adjoining the coast or on the high seas. Also, oceans’ fishing is included within this group. For this purpose, all kinds of boats are used, from semi-rigid boats to a boat.
Lacustrine fishing: In this way, lake fishing is the one that
develops only in lakes, lagoons and reservoirs, in their midst or on the shore. The characteristics of this type of fishing are different from the rest, the density of water, the presence of minerals, temperature, and even atmospheric conditions, which obviously affects the fauna that can be found in them. It is not strange to see fishermen with small boats and even with manual propellers, since the distances they travel are not usually very long.
Fishing in rivers: It is one that takes place in fresh water, more
specifically in rivers. In these occasions the type of fishing, as in the fishing of the lacustrine usually goes more focused to fishing with sport character if we compare it with the practice of the marine fishing, since anyone even with a small boat, some oars with hook hook and a cane worker in conditions can perform this type of activity. Types of fishing according to the method used:
Fishing or hand picking : As the name suggests, it consists of
the capture of fish with hands or in the case of harvesting, it is the collection of mollusks’ and crustaceans such as lobsters, oysters, mussels and shrimps among others, from the funds of rivers, lakes and shallow marine areas such as banks. The fishing equipment in these cases is usually a waterproof jacket and pants to perform this task.
Fishing with net: It is one of the oldest methods, which involves
the use of nets to catch fish. It can be done either manually by people who get into the water in shallow areas, putting them in the course of a river, or in strategic places where schools of fish pass, or by using larger nets from boats.
Harpoon fishing: This technique uses harpoons and rods of all
types and sizes. Although its use has now been reduced, there are many fishermen who continue to use this technique in spearfishing or from a boat. It is one of the oldest fishing techniques that are known, because they have found harpoons of bone and stone, from very remote times.
Fishing of thread: It is the most used method in fresh water.
There are several methods of fishing with thread, being two of the most common one that uses a "fishing rod" with a rod holder, waiting for the fish to fall on the baited hook, and a method of priming several threads with hooks, put in line to catch several fish, which is usually practiced in lakes and marine areas near coasts.
Fishing with traps: In this type of fishing, a trap with bait is
used, hanging inside it and allowing the fish to enter but not its exit. It is placed in the bottom of a river or a lake, usually subject to an anchor or ballast, tied with rope to the boat or to some weight object on the shore. One or several can be placed in series. It is common to see on the shores of the fishing lakes, along with special cold retention coolers for the storage of catches, using this technique. Underwater fishing: The traditional underwater fishing is that the fisherman submerges himself in the water to do the fishing, chasing the prey until reaching it and capturing it. It is a type of fishing that can be considered a bit dangerous, not only because of what it takes to fish with a harpoon under water, but because of the damage that larger fish can cause to the fisherman.
