And a cuckoo clock.

The difference is Gaggenau.

In the Black Forest, some things never change – others
have been evolving since 1683. Innovation has become
a tradition for us ever since our company was founded as
a hammer and nail works, along with unique design that
is highly regarded the world over. Such as the ovens 400
series, shown here with oven, Combi-steam oven and
warming drawer – a combination that unites cutting-edge
technology and premium materials with super ior design.
Our appliances have been constantly evolving since 1683.
The only thing that stays the same is that they just keep
looking better and better.

Controlling the Flow

Merlyn Showering has launched a wetroom enclosure with a clever swivel panel
to deflect shower spray which it says works particularly well in a recess situation
or a smaller wetroom area.

The swivel panel has standard fittings and can be retro-fitted to most shower
walls and is shown here with the new model from Matki’s wetroom collection, the

Simon Taylor, Managing Director of Simon Taylor Furniture, says:

“I’d like to think we define ourselves by making the kitchen or bathroom buying
experience come alive for people. We’re now at the point where the children
of our original customers are buying their first ‘serious’ kitchens, bedrooms or
bathrooms from us, and there’s a reason for that. Most customers don’t happen
upon us – we tend to be a destination for people – and we capitalise upon that.
“We make it experiential from the off. It might be scribbling roughs with one of

our designers, creating a mood board, cooking drop scones with Debs or maybe
spending some time in the workshop. The fact that the showroom is really just
pg a doorway into the Simon Taylor experience makes us pretty unusual and is
probably worth 10 glossy, yet sterile, high street showrooms.”

DESIGNER: What about your choice
of materials and textures?
JORDAN: We wanted to design a warm
and homely kitchen space to fit with
the age and original features of the
property. Oak was the preferred wood
as the client wanted to keep his original
dining table to create cohesion in the
space, and also replace the oak floor
with oak parquet.

The result is a beautiful, warm kitchen

that is enhanced by the use of wood
and hand-painted cabinetry. The wood
burner helps create a focal point at the

by white brickwork tiles to create a

DESIGNER: What are your own

favourite design elements within
this kitchen?
JORDAN: I really love the wine storage
and the long drawer under the ovens
which are great for trays and platters.
I also really like how the mixture of
solid doors and glass doors in the
cabinets help to lighten the kitchen. i
