Doctors Vists in a hospital

Problem statement --

Abstract Objective: To quantify waiting time, identify sections with bottlenecks and factors associated
with waiting time of services offered at various Hospitals.

Data source: Hospital medical forms (previous and current visit), patient real-times, exit interviews and
staff response forms that captured perspectives.

Study design: A cross-sectional study using multilevel linear regression to identify hospital and patient-
related predictors of the estimated ambulatory waiting times.

Data Collection/Extraction Methods: We recorded real-time patient flow data, extracted patient socio-
demographics, visit days, queue lengths, previous facility, and referral status

Principal findings: Patient spend an estimated 5 hrs waiting with longer waiting times with most time
spent at registration and pharmacy sections. This time was associated to patients who reported later in
the day (>11:00hrs), at start of the week (Monday) and this time increases about 3-4 minutes more for
every patient added into the queue. However, we find no consistent evidence on whether or how type
of referral affects waiting times.

Conclusions: A system that limits the number of patient reporting to outpatient department quickens
registration and drug dispensing is needed to improve quality of ambulatory care in major hospitals. Key
words: waiting time, out-patient, quality-of-care

Imaging analytics and diagnostics

One type of deep learning, known as convolutional neural networks (CNNs), is particularly well-suited to
analyzing images, such as MRI results or x-rays.

CNNs are designed with the assumption that they will be processing images, according to computer
science experts at Stanford University, allowing the networks to operate more efficiently and handle
larger images.

Deep learning and neural networks already underpin many of the natural language processing tools that
have become popular in the healthcare industry for dictating documentation and translating speech-to-
text.

NURSES

A common expression among nurses is that "nurses eat their young," referring
to the bullying behavior of entrenched nurses toward nursing students or new
nurses.
The fact is, employees’ attitudes and behavior have a direct and material impact on key patient and
clinical results, and can be an essential element in effectively adapting to change

Disruptive behavior in the healthcare environment can have a significant impact on staff relationships,
communication efficiency, and patient outcomes of care

PATIENT MONITORING

Healthcare around the world is under increasing pressure with many healthcare providers
now recognizing the urgent need for a wider system transformation. A large number of
healthcare organizations are evaluating clinical systems that provide the potential of
improving patient care in areas of the hospital that previously did not monitor patients. An
example of this is monitoring of patients in general care areas to identifying subtle signs of
deterioration in a patient, hours before a potential adverse event. By identifying which
patients may need more focused attention, healthcare providers can make a significant
difference in patient care.

India is amongst the lucrative investment destinations for PME and is expected to show high
growth opportunities in the years to come. However, for medical institutions, acquiring a
patient monitor is a huge investment. Rapid technological advancements result in a discovery
that attempts to change the face of healthcare. At the same time, it also increases the cost
of monitors. This is where professionals end up choosing low-cost alternatives that are neither
reliable nor a medical marvel. Subsequent years need to focus on lowering the price without
compromising on technology.

Patient monitoring, which needs to be of the highest quality, as it monitors vitals, from the
moment the patient gets into an ambulance for the hospital, till he is discharged and plays a
very large role in determining the treatment administered is finding a shift in the country to
basic, low-end systems being procured. Hospitals in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, having to provide
a patient monitoring system with every bed, give very low priority to what it is capable of
doing.
