Reflection

Reflecting on my past accomplishments as a writer, and all my exploits as an

English student, there is only one piece of work that I've found that is worthy of mention.

This assignment would by my Grade 9 Performance task on the mediums of Icarus. The

reason I am proud of this assignment is that it was when I was in a class that I thought

that I would be ready for, and that class was Pre AP English. Even though that class was

very difficult, I still somehow got a decent grade on it. I even got a 4+ in one of the

categories, not to mention it was on a story that I knew well to some degree.

Reflecting on my past grades and assignments, I'll say that I've improved to some

degree. I don't have transcripts from my junior and freshman years, but I do know that

my sophomore year started off strong. After freshman year I made sure to get out of Pre

AP, and head to the regular English 10 class, but because of my struggle in Pre AP, my

start in English 10 was strong and I finished 1rst semester with a B-. My grades in

English have always staggered from Low Cs and Fs, So a B- boosted my confidence a

lot. I think the reason was that there wasn’t a lot of talking in English 10, which is

something, I figured out, I struggled with. My speaking grade has only dwindled over the

years, Socratic seminars are always tough even though I know what the discussion on, I
always have a hard time coming up with something even remotely intelligent to say. It's

because of this that I've tried to rely on my writing skills more, however, those have also

declined to some degree. The only thing category of instruction that has been consistent

is my language grade, which I hope will help me get through the rest of high school.

On the other hand, I do hope to see more growth in my writing category. I've

been somewhat overconfident in my writing abilities, and that overconfidence often

comes back to bite me when something I thought I had written very well, came back with

a mediocre grade. I'm going to make sure that for now on I proofread my essays for now

on so that I can get the grade that I believe I should get.

I don't know exactly what my future will hold. I have my goals but as far being

prepared for the future, i believe that great oak has prepared me sufficiently. Through the

electives I've taken I've learned how to take care of myself better and I learned new skills

that could help me out in the future. Some of these skills include the video editing skills I

learned in the intro and advanced video media arts and the photoshop skills I learned in

graphic design. With these skills, I hope to make a name for myself in the entertainment

industry.
