Steinberg et al (Neurosurgery 2004, n= 153, 14F catheter) and post market studies. 10.7F catheter data from post market studies (10.7F catheter has 80% of the
power of the 14F catheter due to reduction in size). Cooling and warming rates are from intubated patients under general anesthesia. The rates are defined as
the time catheter cooling or warming is initiated until target temperature (incidental cooling due to the induction of anesthesia not included in cooling rate). DVT
data is based on Steinberg et al. (avg. 6-8hr dwell, 14F, n=92, 2% incidence), ICTuS-1 acute ischemic stroke study (avg. 36-48 hr dwell, 9F, n=18, 17% incidence) and
Fever Control Study (24 hr dwell, 9 & 14F, n= 9, 22% incidence). All DVTs were asymptomatic and identified via lower limb duplex ultrasound conducted within
24 hours of catheter removal. No symptomatic DVTs reported.

Per published data from Georgiadis et al (2001, n= 6), Al-Senani et al (2004, n= 13) Holzer et al (2006, n= 97) Hoedemaekers et al (2007 n=10). No DVT rates published
in these studies nor were duplex ultrasounds conducted on patients post catheter removal to detect asymptomatic DVTs. No symptomatic DVTs reported.

Simosa et al American Surgeon May 2007: Duplex ultrasounds conducted on ICY catheter patients post catheter removal. There was a 50% overall incidence of
asymptomatic DVTs. 33% incidence if catheters removed within 4 days. 75% incidence if catheters removed after 4 days.

Surface cooling and warming rates are determined from a number of published studies and include conductive water circulating blankets, pads, wraps, and gel-
based pads.
