have a retreat for junior and
senior high youth. The theme,
“Our Voices, We Respond!”
will focus on youth leadership,
empowerment, and hope for
making the world a better
place for all.
Retreat Program Includes

C ongregations close to
the Temple will provide
housing for youth and youth
leaders. Meals will be provided
throughout Saturday (October
30) as well as breakfast on
Sunday before the closing
worship. Transportation will
be provided to and from the
Temple.

Community of Christ International Peace Award Recipient: Greg

Mortenson, co-founder and executive director of Central Asia
Institute with the mission to promote and support community-based
education, especially for girls, in remote regions of Pakistan and
Afghanistan. Greg co-authored the bestseller, Three Cups of Tea,
and authored his new bestseller, Stones into Schools.

Church’s Response
Carol Greta is an attorney for the Iowa
Department of Education. Bullying and ha-
rassment of children and youth is a growing
concern in our public schools and commu-
nities. What are schools doing to stop bully-
ing and harassment? What can the faith community do
to protect our children and youth from such injustices?
State of the World’s Children
Dalal Al-Waheidi is executive director for
Free The Children, Toronto, Canada. Free
The Children has built more than 500 schools
around the world and has reached more
than 1 million young people in North Amer-
ica. Dalal will share about the work of Free
The Children and the state of the world’s children.

The weekend also will include a prayer retreat, junior/senior high youth retreat,
