What is bullying
● Bullying is the action of one individual repeatedly attacking another.
● There are many different types of bullying
○ Cyber Bullying
○ Verbal Bullying
○ Physical Bullying

Bullying can come in many different forms, but they can all end in the same
result of the victim feeling like an outcast and hurt.

Types of Bullying
Cyber Bullying: Cyber bullying happens when an individual attacks another over the internet. For example
someone being told on the daily that they are ugly or fat, over social media would be considered
cyberbullying.
Physical: Physical bullying is intended to hurt someone repeatedly over a period of time for example
Hitting, Pushing, Kicking Etc. Often times the bully has a higher social standard than the victim, and there is
typically a imbalance of power as well between the two making the victim an easy target.
Verbal and emotional: Verbal and emotional bullying, which can commonly get confused with physical
bullying, is the action of attacking an individual with words. It intends to hurt them emotionally rather
than physically. Sadly, even though no physical harm is being done to the victim, verbal bullying will still
lead the victim to feel hurt.
How to respond

In the case that you are being bullied it is important to stay calm. It is easy to become
frustrated with a bully and to act impulsively, but if you do the wrong thing you can
make the problem worse. It is impossible to give universal advice so the responsibility
falls on you to consider your options and your situation and then move forward from
there. If you are being bullied while at school you can try talking to a teacher or a
counselor about your problems. If the bullying is taking place on the internet then
blocking your harasser could help.
In Conclusion

● Bullying is not an individual problem. It can affect every single person at

different levels of severity. Those who are bullied and victimized will often
suffer from both anxiety and depression.
● If intervening is not an option offering emotional support to the victim after the
situation concludes or reporting the incident can be helpful to the victim. Always
let people know how damaging bullying is and above all else, do not be a bully.
