Task 1 Reflection:

Diagnostic Assessment Interview

After interviewing my MST I’ve learned new things about diagnostic assessment, I
already knew it was to spot the learners level but what I didn’t know was which
type of diagnostic assessment was better, I’ve learned that the best way to get an
immediate feedback is using the oral assessment, however oral assessment lacks
evidence, so if your supervisor needed an evidence of your work, you will not be
able to provide it even though you remember what you asked and what the student
answered, writing assessment is an effective way to have a proof of each student
work, however, it is time consuming as a teacher with lots of students to teach you
won’t be able to save time and the feedback will take a lot of time that you could’ve
used it in something else, especially in UAE, during the past four teaching practices
I’ve noticed that each class has at least 19 or 20 students, so in future I will use the
oral diagnostic assessment and I will record the students answers as a proof,
because it is the best option to take, with 20 students with different levels per class,
and instead of taking time to get the written assessments corrected I think using this
time to focus on the students’ weaknesses and start an improvement plan already is
the best decision to make.
Task 2 Reflection:
Managing Learning

The best 3 routines in my opinion are; writing the day and date and asking students
general questions , I’ve seen that routine during every TP I experienced, I think it’s
something I would use in the future, because you are teaching them to know the day
and the date every day, which is helpful to teach them things that will stay with
them forever, them being able to know the basics of daily life, but the most
important reason to me is that by asking them simple questions every morning you
are strengthen your relationship with them, and you are giving them an opportunity
to make a conversation that is not necessarily about an educational lesson.
Second routine I find effective is the “freeze” routine, when children hear this word
and the bell ringing they know immediately that activities time is over, and they
start cleaning up, I liked this producer because it is fun, and it save time.
Third routine is the groups table, this routine makes the students be aware of their
consequences, and what I liked about it, is that its groups work so children feel the
responsibility of making right decisions because it is team work, and the group that
gets the more points is the one will line up first and get stickers in the end of each
day.

Task 3 Reflection:
Managing Learning

Three best activities to use in learning centers in my opinion are; first in science
learning center, the measuring activity then comparing different objects after
measuring them is a helpful activity to teach the students what mess is and how to
describe objects using words like; bigger than, smaller than, heavy light. When
children try measuring themselves is way more effective than telling them what to
do, as a teacher the best way to do your part is to scaffold and give them a free
time to explore and discover new concepts by their own.
Second activity is role play, role play is the best way to reinforce your students’
communicating skills, because when the play with each other there is no limit and
there is an open space to use lots of imagination.
The third important activity in my opinion is playing with pattern blocks in math
center, it teaches the students more than one skill, it teaches them counting,
sequencing, and color names, it develops their critical thinking and it is kinesthetic
activity which means it also trains their muscles along with their brains.
